I was thinking that if half of the people on vizzed or more bought the "Game Accelerator" item then wouldn't that make it slower instead of faster? Even if i had enough Viz for the "Game  Accelerator" i still wouldn't buy it because of that simple reason. Has anybody else thought that also? If so leave a reply and if you disagree with me would you tell me why you disagree with me in detail.

Anyways, no, that's not how it works.

The Game Accelerator uses a separate server to load it. Even if half of Vizzed bought and used it, it wouldn't slow down. The same server would probably keep running without strain.

Now, I'm pretty sure that's how it works. But I could be wrong.

If more people got on the new server than that would make the new one slower because of all of the traffic and that would free the original one up making the original faster. Wouldn't that make since?
Here is a example.
If you bought a new computer that is exactly like the one you already have and deleted half of your stuff off of your old computer
and put every thing off of your old computer on your new computer wouldn't that make your old one faster?
This of course is assuming you do regular maintenance on your old computer.

I see how you would think that, but I found this out by looking through the Game Accelerator thread;

The server that the Game Accelerator hosts is already 10 times faster than the regular server. So even if the same number of people that uses the regular server decides to get the Game Accelerator to download from, it would still be faster as opposed to using the regular server.

Of course, if it does get to the point where the newer server is slowing down, David said he would increase the price of the Game Accelerator.

Part of the purpose of the new server is to take some strain off of the regular server. Since there are obviously more people who uses the RGR and never the board, then it's less likely that those people will have enough Viz for the Game Accelerator. It would take a lot longer for them to earn the Viz as opposed to one who uses the boards frequently. So it's less likely that the majority of Vizzed users will posses the Game Accelerator. At least, not right away.

Okay, that makes sense. But David is doing a deal right now where if you do screen shots or write 2000 words in  reviews and some other things, he will give you 15,000 Viz which is enough 2 buy the game accelerator. A lot of people probably won't do that but who knows, i could be wrong. In the long run though it could end up being slower then the original one. Would you spend the 15,000 Viz for the game accelerator?

bloodyb : A lot of members don't even check the item shop, and a lot of them are also lazy enough not to bother with screenshots or making long reviews for a game. Those two reasons alone would make it impossible for even half of the site population to buy the game accelerator. One more thing is that, before the accelerator, I'm sure people would buy the other items first, maybe the cheaper ones such as Atari and Sega Master System (they allow you to play all Atari and Sega Master System games here on vizzed for free) for a price even lower than 1000 Viz.

Lastly, you don't need an accelerator for most of the games here as they load within seconds, or if you have a slow connection, within around 5 minutes maximum. Accelerators are only useful for loading some of the big games (in terms of byte size) specially the PSX games, but before you could even play those, you'll need the Playstation item which costs 50000 Viz. It's very, very, hard to earn even for the board regulars. So if you're gonna stick with the small games, I don't see any reasons to buy the accelerator.

Yeah i know that the games on here load pretty fast. The only games i can play on here are gb, gbc and gba. My computer freezes if i try 2 play games for any other system.
I know that the psx item cost a lot of Viz. I check the item shop every time i get around 10,000 Viz.. That is more Viz than i need so i decide 2 blow it on things that are really of no use 2 me. lol
When i first saw the psx item i thought 2 myself wow.. about the only way 2 buy this item is 2 donate money towards vizzed.
Either that or 2 have been on here long enough 2 earn that much Viz.
Which for a lot of people being on here long enough 2 get that much Viz isn't that uncommon. I have noticed that most trusted members have a outrageous amount of Viz.

bloodyb : Hahah, yeah, it's pretty common for trusted+ to have lots of viz, but then even if we add them all up, they are just a very small portion of the total population of vizzed. Being here long enough doesn't guarantee that you'll have lots of Viz either... on top of that you'll have to be an active member.

I agree,  trusted members aren't that much of a population on vizzed. But they are the most active so you see them more than the other users.
I am sure that we can both agree on, if your a trusted member or higher, then you are some of the most active members. But if you just add up the post by trusted members and up then they would be the highest population on vizzed. I am not sure if that makes and sense 2 you or not. If it don't then i apologize. I have a really weird mind. lol

bloodyb : Partly, yes, some trusted+ are also a few of those who were active in the past. A main example of it is the elite rank for retired staff and mods since most of the elites are now inactive but used to be active during their days.

Adding up the posts? That's... a weird way of thinking, but it's great. And yeah, trusted+ would be the highest population if we're gonna base it on post count.
