I kind of wound up bragging in the Star Fox 2 thread (one of them, anyway) saying I could sweep Andross's forces without losing either of my pilots and without allowing them to score so much as a scratch on Corneria, using the low health pilots Miyu and Fay. Turns out, after several successful takes that were eaten, the challenge became far too easy. This was the successful result. I actually improved my time and my score on each successive successful run, and I learned a few things in the process, such as the existence of laser upgrade drops in the game.

Luck still plays a part; if you're too far from a planet close to Corneria that wasn't hit by the first volley of base attacks, unless you have extreme satellite luck with where it is and when it's firing, Corneria's gonna get hit by a missile and that ends the attempt right there, before you even get a chance to fight Star Wolf.
