Hello Vizzed members! tgags123 here with another review! Today I will be reviewing New Super Mario Bros. Wii. Without further ado, let's get to the review!
Overall:
New Super Mario Bros. Wii is a fun game that I really enjoy playing. There are a lot of things that I like about it. From the graphics to the gameplay, this game really has a lot of bright spots.
Gameplay:
In this game, you control Mario and travel through the Mushroom Kingdom trying to catch Bowser and save Princess Peach. You face a variety of new bosses. There are a bunch of power-ups in this game, including some new ones. The power-ups are the Super Mushroom which makes you bigger, the Mini Mushroom which makes you tiny, the 1-Up Mushroom which gives you an extra life, the Fire Flower which lets you shoot fireballs, the Ice Flower which lets you shoot ice and freeze enemies, the Propeller Mushroom which lets you fly in bursts, my favorite the Penguin Suit which lets you shoot ice as well as slide on ice, the Yoshi Egg which lets you ride Yoshi and swallow everything, and the Super Star makes you invincible for a short period of time. You will need these power-ups to help you deal with enemies in the level such as Goombas, Koopas, and Hammer Bros.
Graphics:
The graphics in this game are very good. It is still a side-scrolling platformer, but the characters and items and such are in 3D. The graphics are not too in-depth so it has a similar feel to the original, but are a more detailed, less pixely, and are rounded rather than pointy.
Sound:
I love the music in this game, and in all Mario games actually. The game has very similar music and sound effects as the original, but just better somehow. They flow better. The sound effects are so distinct that when you hear them, you know it's Mario.
Addictiveness:
Will I play this game again? Wii. See what I did there? Wii? Like Oui? Which is French for yes? Ah, nevermind. Yes, I would play this game again. It is so much fun and there is a lot to explore. I often find addictiveness with this formula: fun + depth / 2 = addictiveness. It makes sense to me because the things that make you want to play a game again is how fun it is and how much there is that you haven't done yet. In this case, fun is 9, the depth is 9, therefore the addictiveness is also 9. Trust me, you can't play this game just once.
Story:
So Princess Peach managed to get herself kidnapped. Again. Sometimes I think she gets kidnapped on purpose if you know what I mean (http://25.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_m0ojm6qVWI1r481xno1_500.jpg). Anyway, you have to travel through the Mushroom Kingdom to save her from the evil Bowser, same as the original story.
Depth:
There is a lot of stuff to do in this game. There are nine worlds, with a total of 80 levels. There are also mini games that you can play. These mini games are actually what are in the Mushroom Houses. You play a game and if you win you get a power-up.
Difficulty:
This game isn't too hard. There are a few difficult levels, but overall it is on the easy side. The controls are very simple and easy to learn. The game itself has some challenges, but they are definitely beatable. It might take a few tries though.
New Super Mario Bros. Wii is a game that I strongly recommend playing. If you see it at GameStop, definitely pick it up. It is a lot of fun, and Nintendo did a good job on it. It has some challenges, but isn't too frustrating. So that's my review! I hope you enjoyed reading it and it helped you out. I know I had fun writing it. Any feedback, whether it's positive or negative, is greatly appreciated. Hello Vizzed members! tgags123 here with another review! Today I will be reviewing New Super Mario Bros. Wii.
