I never thought I would tell you guys this, But I was never really a big fan of fighting games back then, I thought they were just games were you just beat up your opponent until they are dead and their meter is out, rinse and repeat, etc. But I have overcame fighting games and I now love them! Including this odd one, This is rakuga kids for the Nintendo 64, only released in Europe though! Greedy Europeans...
Story-6/10 Um...I don't know how to put this, But here is the story I guess, one day in the world of twinkle town, A bunch of kids are just doing typical kid stuff like usual, But then with the power of some magical crayons these kids have made themselves some powerful graffiti heroes! It is now time to rumble with these guys!
Gameplay-7/10 Rakuga kids is a fighting game, and a very solid one at that, You pick one of many kids and their graffiti heroes, and you then pick a stage and beat eachother up! The combat in this game is very solid, You use the C buttons in order to pull of some punches and kicks, and pressing the Z button will let your character use a very powerful special! Sure the game doesn't feel as gruesome and action packed as other fighters at the time, But it is good for what it is worth! There are 3-5 main game modes in the game, and those consist of Story mode where you pick your character and advance through a story like adventure Ala Smash bros classic mode, free battle lets you pick out a character and opponent and just battle on any stage for the heck of it, And practice mode lets you practice your skills. Anyways, that is the gameplay!
Graphics-8/10 Based on what I said earlier, the game's graphics are done with graffiti crayons and whatnot, and for what It is worth, It works quite well! All the arenas and locations in the game look pretty sharp and bursting with color, which is no coincidence, because crayons and markers is what the kids in the game used to make their graffiti heroes! The kids and their heroes also look pretty good and cool as well, for the heroes, well you got super heroes, robots, cowboys, etc. But the actual owners of the heroes look good as well.
Sound-7/10 The actual sound in this game is pretty solid as well, you get a bunch of happy bright and cherry music that suits the mood of each level really well, As for the sound effects, they are pretty top-notch as well! You get a bunch of bangs, pows, booms, clonks, etc. It is exactly what you would expect from a game like this!
Addictiveness-7/10 I'll be honest here, the game is actually tons of fun and will keep you busy for a very long time! The game is although best enjoyed with a friend, because that's how you will get the most of fighting games! But oh well, the game is still tons of fun!
Depth-7/10 The game offers somewhat alot of stuff to do for you, For one there is multiplayer in which you can play with a friend! And the game offers alot of stuff to unlock, so the game will probably take you 10 hours to 100% completely.
Difficulty-5/10 This game is actually pretty easy for the most part! Not even once did I ever have trouble in the story mode or whatnot, there is a difficulty level though, so If you are an expert at gaming, you will want to try hard mode!
Overall-7.7/10 If you are in great need of a fighting game for anything, I suggest you go with this one, It's fun, It's cute, It's everything you want from a fighting game! So..this has been RedHotToddy, And I am signing out!
