Ok its time to review another PlayStation game. This time its mega man x4. Mega man x4 was the first mega man game that was not released on a Nintendo console (remakes and collections do not count) and is the second mega man game for me to review. So after I'm done with this review, i can keep my PlayStation item. We all know how those reviews go. So do i like this game or not? We will see it now.
graphics: 7 remember my mega man 8 review in which i said the graphics looked like they could have been done on the Sega cd? Well this game has pretty much the same story. Don't get me wrong i still like the graphics, but it does not seem like there is putted much effort in it if it looks like it could have been done on a console released 3 years before the PlayStation. So that is why i rate the graphics so low
sound: 8 again, similar to mega man 8. I like the music, but it is not extremely memorable. The sound effects are pretty good. And unlike in mega man 8, the characters talk in the cut scenes (and i do not mean something like the stupid voices in mega man 8 for robot masters and pointless information). So yeah i rate an 8 out of 10
addictiveness: 9 i hear people complain the x games to be the same with every title. To which i react: does that even matter, at least it is done well (i am looking at you new super Mario bros wii). I can not really judge that copy paste stuff since this is the only x game i have played (except for x 1), but game play wise this is a very addictive game. It is not really my favorite 2d platformer overall as well as game play wise (that would be sonic & knuckles (because of that stupid barrel in sonic 3)), but i still like the game play and i will play it again.
story: 3 you know what is coming in the story of a mega man x game. At first a cetairn villain (or in this case 2 villains) in this game the general and the colonel who are the leaders of repliforce seem to be the main villains. But later on, a plot twist happens and sigma is the main villain. The main reason i rate it lower than mega man 8 is because wily is the main villain in the classic series and there are no plot twists to change that. But with sigma there is a plot twist in every single x game so that is why i rate 3 out of 10
depth: 6 just beat the mavericks, beat later extra parts, we know how that goes with mega man x
difficulty: 9 the difficulty (just like in mega man 8) is insane. The mavericks deal lots of damage while you barely damage them (especially with the x buster or z saber), the stages are unpredictable as hell and are filled with annoying enemies. I litterly haven't beaten any maverick other than that stupid spider (which i like to call spider man) and even that was a frustrating boss. So this game is overall (like other mega man games i have played) a frustratingly hard game
overall mega man x 4 is an enjoyable game, but i am still not a huge mega man fan. This game is mainly for the fans. So i give it an 8.1: its fun for the fans, but way too hard for my skills
