Overall this game deserves a 10 because the story, depth and difficulty all blend together nicely to make a balanced game of challenge, mystery and fighting. The graphics could have been less pixelated and blurry, but since it came out a long time ago it's not too bad for it's time. The sound quality is really good but does loop a lot. This game is very addictive because you can make so many different character choices, item choices and things like that. The story and depth at which it goes is amazing for such an early type game. It has twists and turns and in the end doesn't really make sense, which only makes you want to play it more so you can understand it better. The difficulty I chose a seven for two reasons. One, fighting Culex. Holy crap that guy is tough! Two, there is a lot to remember. Even writing it down only marginally helps.

Now, I am currently trying to remake this game. I'm going to add/remove certain dialogue, add a map to access at anytime and reveal locations of hard to find items and hidden treasures(maybe). If anyone would like to give me any ideas on how to make the game better, let your opinion be heard or just shout at me, leave me a message or email me. I have never remade a RPG of this magnitude before but I will give it my best shot. Once I have all the ideas I need, it should take me about a day or two.

So, in recap, awesome game. Truly superb for all you Mario fans out there.

Not too bad but next time be more specific and separate the categories into paragraphs to make it look nicer.

I wasn't going for specifics. I was trying to be vague so others could express their opinion on what I felt. Secondly, I did separate the categories and descriptions of those categories with commas. As long as people can read it and understand it, it doesn't matter what it looks like.

As for the review, try to be a little more in depth or descriptive. You could still remain vague while still including plenty of detail and description of the games look and feel.
As for the RPG you are making, I wouldn't include a map that shows all the hidden treasures, or what is the point of having them? Maybe some sort of indicator as to when you're near one would be nice, reminiscent of that from Paper Mario 64. Or maybe still have the map but make it very expensive or have a major side quest in order to find it, but depends solely on how far you wish to take this project. I think some of the enemies can be powered up a little, and some down a bit, but enough to the point where it is ideal to change it. Like the guerrilla from the Lost Forest, his HP can be taken down a notch.

Sludgehead : That's a good idea about the map. I'll either make it difficult to buy or make it itself a hidden treasure lol I'll try powering up the little guys, lowering the gorilla in the forest. I will leave Culex the same though. Thanks for the ideas.

This game is an attempt to bring the RPG element to Mario. It did a pretty good job doing so. I really like the game, and its replay value to the game is really great.
