This game, Sonic the Hedgehog for the Sega Genesis became a very great game for the system and really brought Sonic into the gaming industry. This was the game where we seen Sonic's debut into video gaming, mostly because Sega wanted to create a game to compete against Nintendo, and thus, we have Sonic the Hedgehog. Even 22 years later after Sonic's debut, Sonic is really going strong.
The Graphics: The graphics it this game are what you would expect from a Genesis game very colorful and each of the Zones in the game are really done and the backgrounds plus the foregrounds are very awesome, and for a '91 game, the graphics are really nice and outstanding. Sega really put a lot of effort into creating this game to compete against Nintendo in the 16-bit Wars.
I'll give this a perfect 10 out of 10. ------ The Sound/Music: The Music in the same is great for the Genesis, some parts in the music sound a little off, but for a 16-bit game, that's alright. Each of the music that is played in each Zone really goes great with the one you're playing in which is a great thing Sega did nonetheless For the sound effects, they're pretty great as well, like some of the things you hear mostly when you hit an enemy and you loose your rings, that sound, although it's a bad thing, but it does sound really great, and not just that, but the enemies you hit it has that "pop" sound it it's nice to hear that.
I give this a 9 out of 10 ------ The Addictiveness: The Addiction level in this game is great, it's a fun game to try out and whats you to come back and play some more of this game, if you haven't played this game before, you'll become hooked onto this game really quickly because of all the challenges you can experience. Every level in the game really wants the player to play on and wants the player to try and beat it which can be pretty addicting.
I give this a 9 out of 10 ------ The Story: There isn't much of a story in this game other than you stop Robotnik from taking over the world. While Sonic chases Robotnik down, he attacks enemies and frees his furry friends from the robots and once he finally comes face to face with him in the final level, you do all you can to stop him once and for all and end his plans of taking over the world.
I give this a 6 out of 10 ------ The Depth: This game do in a way got a bit of material and a pretty decent amount of enemies in the game. You travel though 6 Zones (3 acts each) and a Final Zone where you face Robotnik and stop his evil plans. Once you get enough rings, you can unlock a bonus ring at the end of the level and you have to jump into the ring at the goal to advance to the bonus level to try and get a continue once you get a game over..
I give this a 7 out of 10 ------ The Difficulty: The Difficulty is really hard, it's once you get a game over, once you do, their isn't any game overs and you have to start all over from the beginning which is a pain to do, especially when you're near the end and you get a game over and have to go all the way back, although they're a way to get continues in the bonus levels.
I give this a 8 out of 10 ------ Overall: Overall, this game is a very great game to play of you haven't played this game before, this game is really recommended to play. This game was a huge boost for the Genesis in the 16-bit Wars competing against Nintendo's SNES, and even for someone that on the SNES side, this game here was a really awesome game to play. With Sonic's success, he ended up getting a squeal and a character that's going to last a very long time, even 22 years, he still got it.
Overall, I give this game a 9.5 out of 10
