Once you start the game you will obviously want to get your favorite starter, but unless your favorite is Charmander, Bulbasaur, or Squirtle  you'll have to wait.

Once you go to the Pokémon lab you will goto Central City, where you meet Ash Kechem.
Now once Ash leaves a Team Steam Grunt attacks Prof Jasmine and she lets you pick from one of the Kanto starters.
It doesn't matter what starter you pick , once you pick your starter you have to fight a Poochyene.
As long as you keep attacking you cant lose. Once you finish the battle Prof. Jasmine will give you that Pokémon you used.

Now that you have your first Pokémon you can start you adventure!

 *TIPS*

Talk to everyone sometimes they give you Pokémon, items ,or TM/HMs.

When you train your Pokémon make sure the Pokémon your training is holding a EXP.Share or a Lucky Egg they will double your Pokémon's gained XP.

When your training your Pokémon make  sure to not switch out every Pokémon you have or you wont get enough XP.

Don't forget type advantages! (They can destroy your foes or dominate your Pokémon!)


If you use these tips you will become a great trainer!

8D : I think we're looking for more comprehensive guides and strategies in this forum, not just a general overview of knowledge that's pretty easily accessible. You should redo this thread and be more thorough with it. For instance, suggesting to us your preferred starter and why or explaining why you would pick a certain team could help out. You could explain that in Blue Version, catching a Ratatta early on could help you make your way through Moon Cave and the countless Geodudes you'll have to fight along the way because you can teach it Water Gun from a TM. You could inform us that Mankey is able to be caught near Vermillion, or that with some work, you can get a Pikachu in the Bug Forest.. You could let us know that an effective way of training some of your other Pokemon is to level up your starter to a point where he can take various hits, and then allow your weaker Pokemon to initiate battles, then switching immediately so that your little guy will get some exp without dying constantly. Functional tips like these will serve you a lot better, I think.

Yes, you need to go into more detail with this. Give and explain more about this. You should recommend good Pokémon to catch throughout the game and then explain why they could be useful through progressing in the game, you could recommend good tips for training your Pokémon and preparing them well throughout  the game. Just make this a little less brief and give more information to elaborate on your guide, really go into detail with this and provide us with useful information that will help us benefit from it. Most of the things you said are just common sense I guess to most good Pokémon trainers, it is important to talk to everybody to make sure that you don't miss something that will help you on later in the game and also that exp share will boost the exp of a Pokémon that you switch out. I think you could provide us with more information that we don't already know and then go into detail by explaining what makes it useful and how it will help us later on in the game. I think you have the basics and that you should add more to this to make it a better guide. Good luck!

This is extraordinary, but you are lacking, a lot of things here, you need to go into detail, explain from limb from, limb, and get us entertained with it. I am not saying I wasn't entertained, or it is bad or anything, but you have to put more thought out into what you wrote. It would make it a lot more easy for us to be a little more happy on it. That is what you wanted to do right, make us get happy, and great with it. Nice to see you working you way up there, and taking the time out to explain to us how to be good at it. I already know though because I nearly beat this game. Just a few more things in Lauren, and the game is complete. Nice work though, and thank you for the great information. This thing lacks the informations about how to be a great trainer in general..

You didn't put any kind of strategy in.
Nothing about raising pokemon.
Nothing about team build up.
Nothing about using vitamines, rare candies, PP/ Max PP ups.
You gave us a starter pack.
I think everyone knows the basic on how to be a good trainer.

To be a extraordinary trainer you need to know about strategy build up.
Knowlege about moves, combined move sets, use of pp
You need to know how to raise you pokemon to be strong enough to defeat oponent which are at least 10 lv's above your pokemon.
You need to know how to use happiness in combining with moves like frustration or return.
You need to know how to make perfect use of abilities combining with your battle field, moveset , or our oponent's typ
battle field: rain dish, shift swim,  Sand veil,  ETC ETC, movesets: wonder guard+  skip swap., water absorb against water pokemon, flash fire against fire pokemon, volt absorb against electric pokemon,  levitate against ground pokemon etc, etc.

How to perfect use different movesets and pokemon:
Like: Shuckle with subsitute, toxic, iron defence, amnesia. Using iron defence and amnesia to ups the defensive abilities, subsitute so it wil not take any damage. iron defence and amnesia will make the subsitute able to withstand more moves. Toxic pure to destroy.
hypnossis, night mare, curse, dream eater.
Such movesets.
Sword dance, slash, focus energy, double team.
Knowingwhat your moves actually do in battle..

Thats how you become a great training. Have knowlege about it. Learning about raising, strategies, counter attacks.

You become a great trainer by training hard and frequently . I always train my pokemon till they get knocked out . If they are weak I give them an Exp. share.

listen catch a pachiresu and always take it on your team its pick up ability gave me 5 lucky egg and 40 rare candys in one week with lucky egg my training is going good thanks pachiresu.
