Pokémon Gold and Silver Walktrough: Part 1 Jotho Region COMPLETED
Link to Part 2: https://www.vizzed.com/boards/thread.php?id=61011

THE START.

First of you must set the time good. It's handy if you set your Time because of day and night Pokémon. Next comes an intro from Professor Oak, he wants to know your name: You can fill in something like ''Gold''. Then your adventure starts...

You start in your house into New Bark Town. Go down. After your mother asked the day of the week, she gives you the PokéGear. Then go to the large building located in the northwest of the Town. This is the lab of Professor Elm. Once you're in the lab Elm will talk to you and give you the choice of three Pokémon. The left is Cyndaquil, a Fire Pokémon. The middle is Chikorita, a Grass Pokémon. And the right is Totodile, a Water Pokémon. All are great Pokémon to begin your Adventure. You also get a Potion from a NPC.

Your next destination is Cherrygrove City in the west. However, take the time to train to Level 10.
It's important to have strong Pokémon, then you can't lose that easily. If you need to heal your Pokémon, go back to the lab of Elm and use the computer. The computer acts like a Pokémon Center. If you have trained your Pokémon to level 10 (And that should not take too long.) go to the west. When you reach Cherrygrove City you will encounter an old man. Talk to him and answer ''yes'' to his question. The old man gives you a tour of the city. The tour ends at his house and he will give you a Map Card. This allows you to see the card in the PokéGear.

Go north of the City and enter the house. Here a man will give you an item called Berry. There are different types of Berries in the game. The appear as big flowers. Continue to the north and east to the home of the Mr. Pokémon. He will give you a mysterious egg. And Professor Oak will give you your Pokedex.

Outside Mr. Pokémon's House, Professor Elm calls you with a PokéGear and says that you must go back now. Go back through Cherrygrove City and use the Pokémon Center. Just before you leave the City you will encounter a Boy with red hair (Silver), He challenges you for a Pokémon Battle, he's using a Pokémon that you didn't choose at the start. Your Pokémon is probably at a high enough level. This will be an easy fight.

When you're back in the Lab, a police man is there and asks you for the boy his name. (You can call him Silver or Loser) After that Professor Elm wants that you are going to collect all of the Jotho Gym Badges. Because of that: you'll get 5 PokéBalls, with this you can catch Pokémon.

GYM 1 – Falkner.

Now you can go to Violet City to defeat in the Gym Leader. Falkner the Gym Leader and he uses Flying Pokémon and it would be a piece of cake if you have you trained a lot. Before you can challenge Falkner you must first defeat two other Trainers. The first Trainer uses a Level 9 Spearow and the second Trainer uses two Level 7 Pidgey. Then you can fight Falkner, he uses a Level 7 Pidgey and a Level 9 Pidgeotto. If you defeat Falkner then you have earned a Badge. You can use HM Flash at any time. Falkner also gives you TM 31 (Mud-Slap).

GYM 2 – Bugsy.

If you leave the gym you will be called again by Elm. He has finished examining your egg. Go to the Pokemon Center. There will be the assistant of Elm. Answer ''yes'' to his question and you get your egg back. The egg can not attack or do other things, but over time the egg will hatch and then you have a Togepi!

Now go to the northern part of the city to the Sprout Tower.  All use of the Trainers are Level 3 Bellsprout's. Fight your way up, which should not be too difficult. Along the way you will find many items as Awakening, Potion's and Escape Ropes.  If you're up and the Trainer is defeated you will see the red-haired boy talking to the Leader of the temple. The boy runs off and the leader wants a fight with you. He mainly uses Bellsprout. Defeat the master of the temple for Flash (HM 05).

Take the path to the south to Azalea Town. Along the way you'll have to fight some trainers and wild Pokemon that hide in the grass.
When you reach the Pokemon Center then go inside and talk to the fisherman to get a fishing rod. North of Pokemon Center is a lake where you can use it to catch Magikarp or another Pokémon.
When you're done, go further south until you come to a dead end. Go left the Union Cave. In the cave you will have different trainers and wild Sandshrew, Zubat and Onix encounter. If you come out of the cave you're in Azalea Town.

Go west, along a well that is blocked by a Team Rocket agent.  Go to the house east of the Pokemon Center. Talk to Kurt, the creator of Poké Balls, which sits on a cushion. He asks if you want to save the Slowpoke well, after which he leaves the house. Now go back down and enter it. Follow the path in the underground areas until you two Slowpoke and two Team Rocket members encounter. Defeat them and Kurt will come to you and talk to you. Kurt will thank you. He gives you a Lure Ball, a Poke Ball with which you can catch easily Water Pokémon.

Now go to the gym to beat the Gym Leader. Make sure your Pokémon are fully fit again. The gym leader is Bugsy. He has a Level 14 Metapod, Level 14 Kakuna and a Level 16 Scyther. Scyther is the most dangerous because his strong attacks. If you beat Bugsy you get the Hive Badge. This allows you to keep your Pokémon to level 30 under control and you can use HM Cut. The gym leader also gives you Fury Cutter (TM 49) Go back to the Pokemon Center to heal your Pokemon and then you go through the gate to the west. Your Rival appears again at that time. He has now a Level 12 Gastly, a Level 14 Zubat and a Level 16 Pokemon (one of the two that you have not chosen at the beginning). This fight is more difficult, but this fight should be no problem if you have trained your Pokémon a lot.

GYM 3 – Whitney.

Go to the check-in station west of the Pokemon Center. If you get there by then you get in a dark Forest. (Ilex Forest) Play a game of "Catch the Farfetch'd" to get Cut (HM 01). Cut is required when you see a bush in your way.

Go further north until you are in Goldenrod City. Explore the city but don't go in the gym. You might be able to find a Coin Case in an underground tunnel. The Bike Shop, you can get a Bike there. Go to the Radio Tower, the tallest building in the west of the city, and talk to the red haired woman on the right side of the desk on the first floor. Answer her questions correctly and then they give you the Radio Card. It allows you to control the radio from your PokéGear.

You can now go to the gym. However, make sure that your Pokemon are at least level 25, because the gym leader, Whitney, has a Pokemon called Miltank. That 'tank' in her name is true. She has an annoying move: Milk Drink, allowing it to automatically recover if he too much damage. This fight with Miltank will be one of the toughest battles so far. If you are in the gym you get into a maze. Follow the track and fight the trainers until you encounter the Gym Leader Whitney: She has a Level 18 Clefairy and Level 20 Miltank. If you win you will get the Plain Badge. Initially, Whitney not want to give you the badge. Talk to the girl with blue hair and talk again with Whitney and she will give you the badge. With this badge you can use Strength. She also gives you Attract (TM 45).

GYM 4 – Morty.

Exit the gym and go to the right of the Gym, there's a House. Talk to the woman next to the flower stands and they will give you a Squirtle Bottle. Go north through the gate and along the check-in stations until you get to the National Park. You can fight with the wandering trainers to earn some money or you can check in to the station to go to the right in the middle. Go through the check-in station and further east, past two Trainers. Find a small path that goes to the north. Your way will be blocked by a kind of bush. Examine the bush and press the A button. The bush will wake up and reveal a Pokemon, Sudowoodo, and it attacks you. It's easy to beat but catch him is not as easy as you think.

Now go west to Ecruteak City. Along the way you'll have a number of Trainers from where you can fight. You will encounter Rival at the Burned Tower, but don't fight him yet. Now go to the house north of the Pokémon Center where dancing girls. Defeat all the girls, using all of Eevee Evolutions including the two new ones: Espeon and Umbreon. Talk to the man with blue hair and a black hat and he will give you Surf (HM 03).

Go to the smaller temple left in the city. In the temple you come back against your Rival. He has now a Level 20 Haunter, a Level 18 Magnemite, a Level 20 Zubat and a level 21 Pokemon of one of the other two starting Pokémon that you didn't choose. Although the fight will be difficult you just have to win anyway, train your Pokemon good before a battle with him. Walk around until you find a hole in the floor and jump in here. You will see three Pokémon. If you walk up to them they will change colour and dispersed. These are the three Legendary Dogs. You can not catch them at the moment. Each of these three Pokémon can appear later in the game in a random place if you are in another area.. So it's just a matter of luck as you encounter them. This can take a long time and it may even be that you do not encounter one of them.

Go south and go above that takes you back to the top. If you think you have trained your Pokemon enough you can go to the gym to challenge the leader. The leader and trainers use Ghost Pokemon, so make sure you have a Pokemon that is strong against Ghost Pokémon and make sure that they're are healthy. If you walk into the gym a few times you will probably fall through the floor. Indeed, there is a hidden path that you must follow. First walk between the two columns by Pokéball. Since you are challenged by a trainer who obviously must defeat. Go to line up with the column and go north until you reach an old woman who challenges you. After its reports go to the west to just before the old man. Go north to the old man. Then go to the east to just before the old woman. Then go north until you reach the Gym Leader, Morty,. He uses a Level 21 Gastly, Level 23 Haunter, a Level 25 Gengar and an another Haunter  Defeat him to get a Fog Badge This allows you to keep your Pokémon to level 50 under control and able to use HM Surf. He also gives you Shadow Ball (TM 30).

In Olivine City you will find that the gym is empty. Go to the top of the lighthouse, the big building and talk to Jasmine. Her Pokemon Ampharos is sick and you will need medication. Exit the lighthouse and go to the last house in front of the beach. Talk to the sailor to get Strength (HM 04)

Surf to Cianwood City, on the other side of the sea. Defeat the Gym Leader to win. Chuck the Gym Leader is using Fighting Pokémon. With this badge you can keep your Pokemon to level 70 under control. The Gym Leader also gives you Dynamic Punch (TM 01). Talk to the woman outside the gym able to get. Fly (HM 02) Enter the last house at the bottom of Cianwood City and talk to the man. He will then give you some medicine for Ampharos.

GYM 6 – Jasmine.

Now go back to Olivine City and go back to the top of the lighthouse. Talk to Jasmine and they will go to her Gym. Defeat her to win. She is using Steel Types. The Mineral Badge strengthens the defense of your Pokémon. Jasmine also gives you Iron Tail (TM 23)

GYM 7 – Pryce.

Leave Ecruteak City and go to the west: Mahogany Town. A man is standing front of the door of the gym, so you can't go inside. Go north and defeat or catch the red Gyarados. (It's a Shiny Pokémon) After that you'll see Lance (The Champion) Talk to him and he will disappear.

Go back to Mahogany Town and enter the shop. Lance will be there and he'll show you the entrance to the headquarters of Team Rocket. Go into the headquarters. Defeat the researcher behind the computer and turn on a switch. On the next floor you come back to Lance. He will heal your Pokemon. Defeat all the Team Rocket members on the remaining floors to collect passwords. You do not have to write. With these passwords you can open the doors. Go to the room of the boss, who is at the very top, and defeat him. Talk to the bird (Murkrow) to get the last password. Go back to the floor where, behind a door, a large machine. Beat together with the Lance Team Rocket members and go to the room where the electricity is generated.

Defeat the three Electrode's on your side. After that Lance gives you Whirlpool (HM 06). If you're outside again you will see that there is no one in front of the gym. You can now go in and beat the Gym Leader (Pryce) for a Glacier Badge and Icy Wind (TM 16).

GYM 8 – Clair.

At this point you now seven Badges and you will get a call from Professor Elm. There are problems at the Radio Tower in Goldenrod City. Go there. Go inside and defeat all the Team Rocket members. There is a door on one of the floors. Ignore the first door and go all the way up to defeat the boss. You will get a key. Leave the Radio Tower north and go to the Underground Passage (which is the place where you've had the Coin Case). Open the door and go inside. At that time, your rival will come and attack you. On one of the floors is a man trapped. From him you get a Card Key. Enter the elevator and you will arrive at the store. Go back to the Radio Tower and go through the door that was closed before. Defeat the remaining Team Rocket members. Now that you've settled with Team Rocket is the time to go back to Mahogany Town and then further east, through a cave, to Blackthorn City. In the cave you can find Waterfall (HM 07) in an Item Ball. You definitely need this HM!

Defeat Clair in the Gym of Blackthorn City. She doesn't want to give you the Badge. Surf to the area behind the Gym (Dragons Den) and go through the cave. Find the Dragon Fang in the cave. If you have found it Clair will reappear. They give you the Rising badge, now you can Control all Pokémon. She also gives you Dragon Breath (TM 24).

ROAD TO THE ELITE FOUR AND HO-OH.

Out the cave you'll get a call from Elm. Go back to the lab and Professor Elm give you a Master Ball.
With this you can catch a Pokémon easy.

To find Ho-oh, go to Ecruteak City. If you're in the Bell Tower you must go to the top. If you are there: Talk to the bird and then you have to fight with him. It will be a hard battle. A Water Pokémon and water attacks work best and use for example the red Gyarados. Ho-oh is a really strong Pokémon, be sure that you have enough Poké Balls. Or you can use your Master Ball. It's up to you.

Fly back to your hometown. Go east to New Bark Town. Go to the ocean east of the city and go swimming or surfing further east until you reach an island. Here you need if it is good to meet a man that gives you a new Map Card of the Kanto Region. On the north side of the island is a cave and swim within. If you are in the cave then swim to the left where you encounter a Waterfall. If you have HM 07, just use it! Then go to the Waterfall, press the A button and choose the first option. If all is well now you shoot to the top of the Waterfall. Then go to the east where you encounter the next Waterfall and go down. Bottom right you will see an exit of the cave.

Swim until you can reach the mainland to the east. Continue to the east. You'll find a white road and follow it to the east and then north. When the road ends you go further north where you will find White road again. Follow this road to the north leading to a building at the end of the road.
A man behind the counter starts talking to you and asks if you want to show: Your Eight Badges. Then you go to the north where you'll find a door. Go through the door and if it is you are now in a large cave: The Victory Road. If you're out the cave you will see another building and this is the building where the Elite Four is located.

The building is a shop to buy items and a Pokémon Center and a PC where you can exchange. Pokemon. There are a few things you should do before you start the battle with the Elite Four to go.

Make sure you have your strongest Pokemon with you and that they are 100% healthy (also their PP.).  Save enough Hyper Potions and Revives. Then the battle with the Elite Four begins!

ELITE FOUR SHOWDOWN.

The Elite Four consists of: Will, Koga, Bruno and Karen. Will uses Psychic Pokémon, Koga uses Posion Pokémon, Bruno uses Fighting Pokémon and Karen uses Dark Pokémon. Then you have to fight the current champion Lance. He is using Dragon Pokémon.

Will has a Level 40 Xatu, a Level 41 Jynx, Slowbro a Level 41, Xatu Level 42 and Level 41  Exeggutor. Trust your Dark or Electric Pokemon, they can handle this.

Koga has a level 41 Ariados, a Level 42 Muk, a Level 44 Crobat, a Level 43 Forretress and  a Level 41 Venomoth. Psychic and Fire Pokémon are working the best against Koga.

Bruno has a Level 42 Hitmontop, a Level 42 Hitmonchan, a Level 43 Onix, a Level 46 Machamp and Level 42 Hitmonlee. Psychic, Water and Grass Pokémon are working the best against Bruno.

Karin has a Level 42 Umbreon, a Level 45 Gengar, a Level 44 Murkrow, a Level 42 Vileplume and a Level 47 Houndoom. Fighting Pokémon are working the best, also Fire, Water and Electric.

After defeating the Elite Four, it's time to beat the current Champion Lance. Lance has a Level 44 Gyarados, a Level 47 Dragonite, a Level 47 Dragonite, a Level 50 Dragonite, a Level 46 Aerodactyl and Level 46 Charizard. He is the Best Trainer until now. The best use against him is Ice, Water, Electric and Dragon Types. After beating Lance, you are the new Champion. Congrats!
But there's more to do, now you can travel in Kanto! (More places)

Looks good. You might want to disable your layout. It's a little hard to read because of the scroll bar.

TornadoMudkip : Nice walkthrough here.I'll have to try this game out sometime.I do agree with earthwarrior though. You might want to disable your layout. It is hard to read due to the scroll bar.If you do a layout, try a more darker type color and see what happens then.

Hard to read? I didn't find it hard to read at all... Nice walkthrough, it's pretty short, but you actually managed to take us through the entire first part of the game!

TornadoMudkip : Excellent no extraordinary good ! This walk trough you made is very descriptive and goes into alot of detail and it covers the events in Pokémon Gold/Silver well. It covers everything from gym leaders Pokémon levels to even the littlest of activities  such as setting the time and getting specific TMs and HMs, very nice job here this really shows you put a lot of effort and time into this walktrough! I felt as though I was reading a story of the games!
