My overview: This game really brings back memories for me. It was my first actual Pokemon Game, so this is a little bias then again, what review doesn't have bias?
Graphics: As one of the first games for Game Boy Advanced that involved pokemon, the graphics were Very good for it's time. The sprites in the game look like sprites in the Anime, and that is something that most pokemon games, didn't have which was a disappointment. Also, the battle animations (When your entering a gym leader battle, elite four battle or champion battle) showed the people as they looked on the Anime as well. So, Graphics overall is a 9 for me.
Sound: The Sound was excellent on this game. Move sound, Gym Music, City Music, etc... The only reason this isn't a 10 is because of repeating town music. Many of the islands (one island, two island, three island, etc...) have music from other cities. That is what disappoints me. It would be better for each City/Town to have it's own music. So, I rate Sound a 9 as well.
Addictiveness: This game has blown away most other Game Boy Advanced games. Though one of the first, it is almost like you can't help but play the game again, even when you actually beat it. Addictiveness would have been a 10, except for the fact that when you can't do anything at all due to the problem of you 'completing' the game. Though every time Nintendo argues that Pokemon games never end, that is simple not the case. I rate Addictiveness a 9.
Story: This story line goes into major depth. From battling Team Rocket to all of the side quests in the game. Here is a quick overview of the story. You are Ash/Red from Pallet Town and are finally ten years old, so you get your first Pokemon. You wander around the Kanto region getting the Gym Badges and stop and evil team known as Team Rocket from taking over the world. This story continues after you beat the Champion of course. I rate the story a 9.
Depth: This game is one of the better Pokemon Games that Nintendo has created. It's long, it has multiple goals, and it takes days to complete (longer if you have no experience). I rate Depth a 10.
Difficulty: Sadly, difficulty is the factor that most Pokemon games do not have. However, this is one of the hardest (except maybe for the Hoenn games). The gyms are more challenging than other games as well as harder to find/catch Pokemon. It also allows the evil team on this game to come back after you have beaten the Champion, which to me is very good. I rate difficulty the lowest at an 8.
Overall: Overall, this game is addicting, fun and well thought through. This is one game I would play over and over again just for the sheer entertainment, not because their is nothing else to do. I would rate the Overall game itself a 9.
