Minecraft was first created by a Swedish programmer named Markus Notch Persson and was later made by Mojang. Minecraft undertook a long alpha and beta stage. In 2009, Minecraft was released publicly in it's Alpha stage, and on November 18, 2011 it was finally released as an actual product. Minecraft receives almost monthly updates adding new content for players and makes the game keep players playing it because of all the new things. However, from my opinion, it is hard to come back to Minecraft after a long break and adjust to new items and crafting recipes. The game also is all in block shapes. By that I mean grass is a block itself, as a iron ore is also a block itself.
GRAPHICS (8): As I stated before, this game is all about blocks, so the graphics are about what the blocks look like. On the PC version of Minecraft, there are texture packs. A texture pack is made from somebody editing the default textures and changing it. They do so by pixelate the blocks with different colors, or different looks. However, on the XBOX 360 version, you are stuck with the Vanilla, or default texture pack. However from my personal opinion the default texture pack looks nice and feels good to see after playing with a texture pack for awhile. A shader, another thing exclusive to PC, requires a good CPU and graphics card, but makes even the default texture pack look beautiful. It looks like something out of Battlefield 3, if I can attempt to describe it. Now, I know people will hate on Minecraft and give it flack for being made out of blocks (I am no fanboy, however. But not a hater), however when you mix blocks together it looks amazing and is like making a painting.
SOUND (10): Minecraft's soundtrack was made by a German composer named Daniel Rosenfeld, who goes by "C4 18." Now there are these disks in the game that you get in Dungeons or from mob drops can be put in a Jukebox and be played. There are many songs that are all catchy, however I felt the most catchy was "Cat" and made it worth it to get that disk. Aside from the disks the regular soundtrack sounds great and is catchy, there are sad songs, there are happy songs, there are songs I cannot respond to. But I never, EVER, found myself muting Minecraft's music and playing music in the background.
ADDICTIVENESS (10): Minecraft can be pretty addictive. However, it is not an automatic thing. I used to not really care for Minecraft, I got bored in single player and was bored on Multiplayer servers (Servers are PC exclusive, however you may still play Online on XBOX.) . However, when you have a friend-- well it just gets  fun. You guys can collaborate to make crazy awesome builds, or help the other make YouTube videos. As I said, I was bored in multiplayer and singe player, but when my friend Metroidhunter72 (check out his YT! www.youtube.com/metroidhunter72!) invited me onto his server I was addicted, we and many other friends would do builds, wars, RPG's and just have a good time. Slowly, you want to play all the time. It becomes a crazy addiction and it can grow out of control if you do not handle it.
STORY (1): To be honest, Minecraft has no story. It is an Indie-Sandbox game. You spawn in a randomly generated world that never ends, the whole concept is that you first chop down trees to get wood for sticks, a crafting bench, and wooden tools. You first have to work hard to survive in Minecraft, but it gets easy. Next you build a shelter for the night, hopefully you find some coal for torches to make light. If you don't light up your home, firstly, it is hard to see, and secondly, mobs spawn. Mobs are creatures like Creepers, Zombies, Spiders, and skeletons. After you hopefully you survive the night you go and mine for iron, gold, diamond, and redstone. Soon, surviving goes away and you live easily. Minecraft then becomes a game where you then use creativity. You can do "pixel-art" (You make pictures out of blocks.) or make large medieval castle builds, or modern metro cities. However, there was an update where you may go to The End and fight the Ender Dragon-- however, there is no official end to the game, making it's replay rate being high.
DEPTH (7): Minecraft can have lots of depth for first time PC players who haven't seen videos of Minecraft. However, for XBOX players get a tutorial and more, even the loading screens have information for the player! Also, as an added bonus, the XBOX version has a easier crafting system. However, seeing as Minecraft receives almost monthly updates, Minecraft will always have more depth and will always get more content.
DIFFICULTY (5): Minecraft can be pretty scary for new players who haven't watched Minecraft before. PC makes it harder for starting players and XBOX makes it easier (I mentioned XBOX shows the recipes, PC doesn't.). I was taught by my friends, so I was given a boost when learning, however, XBOX players really don't need help seeing as they are given tips on loading screens and a box showing info about whatever the player is holding or looking at.
I personally recommend Minecraft for anyone who is looking to try something new. For all the people who are nervous to play Minecraft because of what the people hating on it say should ignore them and form their honest opinion on the game. Because the reviews they rely on when buying games is what the reviewer feels, so it can be awesome to the reviewer, and not for the guy who bought the game after seeing the review. ~ Kyle
