Being a metal head, I found this game kind of interesting. With bands such as Black Sabbath, and AC/DC replacing the normal Super Mario World music, I thought it was kind of cool. However, not all of it was metal as the name misleadingly states, but never mind that. The game boils down to pretty much this. Graphics. The graphics of the game were completely custom. Everything from the face of the Koopas, to the Monty Moles, to Mario himself. Even the background was changed. All in all, it was pretty nice to see graphics that WEREN'T Super Mario World 2 graphics inside a hack. Good job there. It deserves a ten 10. Sound. If you are a metal head, you already fall in love with them. If your not, you could still appreciate the fact that the creator went through a lot of trouble figuring out how to use the custom music hack tools, and then getting them to work without screwing up the entire hack. Excellent job. I give it a 10. Addictiveness. I've played through the game a few times, and it still has a certain little charm that keeps me coming back for more. However, the game play itself isn't enough to get you hooked, as it is only 5 levels plus the house. Overall, it's probably a 6. Story. The story is pretty bland. Princess is kidnapped, so you have to go save her, blah blah blah. No more than 1. Depth. As I said, the game is 5 short levels and a house. The game shouldn't take more than five maybe ten minutes to beat. It really only deserves a 1. Difficulty. The game is ridiculously easy. 5 short levels, with few enemies in each of them. You get 10 hits before you die, and there are only 3 enemies that you might get hit by. The rest of them are slow moving Koopas that you can clearly see coming, or Monty Moles that take a minute to bust through the ground. Even if you DO get hit, just go back to your house, go all the way to the right, and there are two hearts sitting there, restoring 5 health each. You can just leave and come back and they are there for you to pick up again. This is definitely a 1. Overall score: 5.6. Despite the fact that every song in the game is based off of my favorite genre of music, I still find the game really lacking in any pizazz. I know this game is still in beta mode, but for future reference, make the levels longer, and a little bit more of a challenge to the player. Try to develop a story. The whole "save the princess" is used not only in every Mario game, but in most other ROM hacks as well. You could do something like, "save the world with the power of metal" or something like that. But other than those few things, this was an excellent hack and I did enjoy it. Nice job and please finish it.
