Minecraft XBOX 360 Edition is a good game which is essentially a version of Minecraft for PC and MAC that has been stripped of many versions and ported to the XBOX. Though it may have been reduced to previous levels of development, the team at Mojang is trying to update minecraft on XBOX to the current version on PC and MAC. This process is slow and steady, but the real disadvantage of XBOX minecraft is that you cannot mod it like you can on the PC or MAC.
Advantages do exist, though. With the XBOX Live system, skin pack DLC has been added. This skin pack DLC includes many skins to choose from, you can even change skins in mid-game. Another advantage is the crafting system. The crafting system is better than in the PC or MAC version, well, at least vanilla. In the crafting system, there is a menu that tells you what you can craft with your current items and what your current items can be used to craft. Also, Mojang frequently releases updates for the XBOX edition, leaving the game with more future updates and more content. Advantage number 4 is that there is a special mode for HD televisions which is split screen co-op. One very important feature is that there is no need to fiddle with graphics setting to lessen lag.
The major disadvantage would be the fact that there is no support for mods. While there is not as much modding support as the PC and MAC versions of minecraft at the current time, the team at Mojang could add mods as a sort of DLC. Of course, this would mean paying for mods; unless, like games in the Monster Hunter series, they added an in-game DLC store with optional but free DLC. Another obstacle would still exist. The game developers at Mojang would have to get permission from people for their mods, like Flan for Flan's Mod. Another option would be the addition of mod packs like Tekkit or Voltz. Even more complications with copyrights would arise from mod pack implementation. Though, even if they did add mods to a free DLC system or a paid one, the mods available would not have the variety that the PC and MAC versions of minecraft offer.
Because of all of these complications, I do not think that mods would be added to the game. It would be too complicated and a very big risk on profiting or not. Or, they would get no profits at all if they used a free DLC system. With that being said, there is more hope just waiting for the XBOX version to update to the computer version of minecraft than waiting for mod support. The XBOX version is pretty good and has more potential than the vanilla PC or MAC versions. Overall, I would say that the XBOX version is worth buying if you also have the PC or MAC version or plan on getting either the PC or MAC version.
