Attack Guide
Conclusion

Basics:
To start off go to start in the game menu then new game. Then you have to select your character. Move left or right until you are at the character you want then press a. Right now you can only use Yusuke. Now follow the simple in-game tutorial to learn how to play and to learn the story. Map: You command a team of fighters. You get to pick which ones you use after you unlock them. You unlock characters by winning certain levels. You are in a tournament to beat the evil Toguro and his team. You can't let him win! You can also get different items to help you out on your journey.

After you follow Genkai's tutorial he puts you up against a Ram. Rams are the basic enemies in this game. You will see them often in the hotel levels. Just take your time and Spirit Kick him until he falls. When you level up you get to upgrade your skills. Pick which ones you upgrade wisely. If you upgrade a certain skill enough you will learn more and more attacks. Check the Character guide part of this tutorial for more info and exactly which attacks you learn.
Offence increases your attack power of physical attacks.
Spirit Energy increases power of spirit attacks.
Movement upgrades increases how far you can move each turn.
Power I'm not sure what it does. I think it increases some other stats.

There are also some stats you might be interested in looking at:

After you defeat the ram you see the world map:

You can't enter the other places until you finish the ones you already unlocked access to. Now just press a and go into battle. This is the first actual battle that isn't a tutorial. I'm still keeping this in the basics section because it will help you get familiar with the gameplay.

Map:

Simply walk up and do a spirit kick. And then you win... unless you miss or it doesn't do enough damage. In that case just do another spirit kick or two. When you win I strongly recommend upgrading your spirit energy. This will give you the move spirit gun. It is a ranged and very powerful attack. Use it wisely as it uses twice as much energy as the spirit kick.

Hotel:
The hotel is the first major area of the game. It consists of seven levels. At the end of this area you will get four more party members named Kuwabara, Masked Fighter, Kurama, and Hiei
Map:

Level 1: In this level there are two Rams. Just Spirit kick them and they will be gone before  you know it. Keep your distances. If you just walk on out there there is a chance that you can die. That is why it is great to have the spirit gun. Map:

Levle 2: Map:
There are only three rams here. I suggest having Kuwabara taunt and Yusuke attack. I wouldn't recommend using him. He uses way too much energy for each attack. And he takes a long time for his turn to come up. If you have him taunt the enemies will attack him and not Yusuke. I suggest having Yusuke level up as much as he can. You get exp from each attack and from just participating in the fight. So it might be worth it to have Kuwabara just taunt. If your player dies they come back so no worries.

Level 3: Map:
There are four rams and one turtle. The turtle is the only real threat. He has a ranged attack so watch out. Kuwabara isn't going to be very useful so just take out the rams then have Kuwabara taunt the turtle.

Level 4: Map:
There are four rams and one turtle again. This time I recommend trying it yourself. Experiment with the different commands and be sure to take out the turtle asap. If you want to use this guide for this level hit the turtle with the spirit gun then just defeat the rest of them. Taunt if you want. Don't give up. After this fight you will unlock the masked fighter.

Level 5: Map:
There are four rams and three turtles. They aren't very hard. Now Yusuke should be strong enough to take most of them out. Don't be afraid to use Masked Fighter or Kuwabara in this fight.

Level 6: Map:
There are four rams and three turtles. Simply attack the two enemies in front of you then go up slowly. Instead of going up you can also stay on the defensive side and stay in the back. Soon you will win. After this fight you will unlock Kurama.

Level 7: Map:
There are four rams, three turtles, and one winged. Take out the ones in the front first. Don't rush up and attack the ones up top. Or you can have one or two players make their way up top and the other two can stay down and fight the others. Soon the battle will be over and you will unlock Hiei. After this battle there is also an item spinner. It spins and then you can try to get items. Right now there are only heal drop or spirit drop. Picture of the spinner:

Forest:
The Hotel was a test. The forest when the game starts getting a little hard. There are 10, but you only have to do 8 levels. Map:

Level 1: Map:
This level is pretty strait forward. There are four rams and two turtles. One thing you need to be aware of is getting you units surrounded. The can easily die if they get trapped. About 4 or 5 good hits and your character will die. This isn't a really big deal, but they will not get any exp from that round and they will have half HP and SE next round. To avoid loss of HP and SE just enter another easy map, like level 1, and have your person be active in the fight, and then win it. Then the character's HP and SE will be restored.

Level 2: Map: This round is... difficult. Map:
There are three rams, one winged, two turtles, and two floodgates. What are floodgates you say? They are portals that take monsters into the playing field. Monsters will keep coming out until they are destroyed. Watch out. My strategy is to defeat the first floodgate first, then the monsters, then the last floodgate, then any more monsters. So take your main attackers, I use yusuke, Kurama, and Hiei, and destroy the floodgate. Then take your other units, in my case would be Masked fighter and Kuwabara, and destroy the two turtles to the right. After you destroy the first floodgate have Yusuke or your primary fighter go up and defeat the Winged and the two Rams. Have the other two that were near the floodgate attack the rest of the monsters in the beginning. Then have the two you sent to destroy the turtles go up and attack the other floodgate and the monsters around the floodgate. After your sections have been cleared have the units attack the floodgate. They should be destroyed soon.

Level 3: Map:
Another straightforward map. Just keep your distances. You can also break your team up into groups. One group can go up and one can go left. You should always make your team useful. Don't have your weakest members together. I like to put Yusuke and Kurama going up and Hiei, Masked Fighter, and Kuwabara go left. It's really simple.

Level 4: Map:
This one the more challenging levels. There are three rams, seven turtles, and two wingeds. Take your time and don't rush into battle. Sometimes it's best to let the enemy come to you. Remember Four or Five good hits from your enemy can destroy any one of your units unless they are over leveled. Another strategy is to stay on one side. You can have all of your units go to the right for example and travel that way. The enemies will only have one way to go so they can't back attack you. Also you can go to the left and take the high ground. This will help the long ranged fighters. You can also have long ranged fighters go left to the high ground and short range fighters take the right route. Find what works for you and stick to it. Don't get left then right. That strategy might work, but it might get you stuck. Also having one person go ahead and taunt can protect some other units. If one of you units dies it isn't a big deal unless you are about to lose the match. Don't worry too much though.

Level 5: Map:

This map is pretty fun. There are two rams, four turtles, and two winged's. It's like a little battle. Team VS teams instead of trying to kill everything. My strategy is to go all in and attack attack. There aren't any places to run and the map is really small.  It doesn't really matter how you go about things. Anything will work besides sitting around and doing  nothing.

Level 6: Map:

This level is tricky. There are six turtles, two rams, and two wingeds. One of your team members needs to get to the red spot before time runs out. Don't worry about defeating a whole lot of enemies. It doesn't matter how many enemies are left. If the time runs out you lose. Be careful and play it smart. The timer has 175 initiative on it. Try not to use attacks with high initiative. You will dig yourself into a hole you can't get out of. Just simply run up as fast as you can.

Level 7: Map:
This map it intimidating. It isn't that hard. There are 2 rams, 5 turtles, 3 wingeds. Take the ones close to you out and let them come to you. Just taunt with someone then they will come right at you. Make sure you are using your stronger moves. This will take some of them out quicker. On this map try to worry less about initiative. Oh yeah save your Overdrives here. If all or most of your characters don't have their overdrive meter filled you can go back to Hotel level 1 and get them all overdrived. You will need them for the next battle. It's tough. One more thing you can use the terrain to your advantage. If you stay on the high ground it will be hard for your enemies to move up close to you. But don't worry. This one isn't hard at all.

Level 8: Map:
This is the first tournament match. Your goal in the game is to beat the tournament. The enemies are really tough. That's why you need overdrives. Someone most likely will die this match. There are two lions, two wingeds, Zeru, and Chu. Use your overdrives on chu and Zeru. Take them out asap, but if necessary defeat the lions or the wingeds first. Always be careful and watch what you are doing. In the end you will be rewarded with a spirit drop and two spins on the spinner. This will also unlock the level with the lock on it.

Level 9: Map:
In this level Rinku and Roto kidnapped Yukina. You have to get her back. You win by defeating all of the enemies. They are Rinku, Roto, three lions, and three rams. Take out the enemies around you first then go after Rinku and Roto. This is a pretty simple battle. In the end you will unlock Yukina and you will be rewarded with a heal boost and two spins on the spinner. You should always use Yukina in battle. I would remove Kuwabara so my team would be Yusuke, Kurama, Masked Fighter, Hiei, and Yukina.

Level 10: Map:

This map is easy, but intimidating. There are six rams, and five turtles. Take it slow. Since they are so close to you should stay where you are. Only move a little. Overdrives make this go a lot faster, but they aren't necessary. Remember to heal and run if you have to. Also taunt and charge. If you think it is necessary then defend as well. It's very satisfying if you finish a big round like this.

Attack guide:
In this game the characters learn more attacks by upgrading their stats. You get upgrade points whenever the character levels up.
S E or spirit energy are the points you use to attack. I or initiative is the amount of time you have to wait so you can attack again. The S E changes so I just took an amount. Stronger moves need more initiative. The less initiative the better.
