Hey as you can see I play and like role playing games (rpg's). But to be truthful I'm getting more and more bored of the final fantasy and Pokémon games and I am shocked that I said that because I love both those franchises with the bottom of my heart, but after playing them for a long time they get boring for me especially after I beat them and play them again. I've tried other games the Mario and sonic and stuff like that but I also get bored of them but don't get me wrong I still play all this games but I want to look for a new rpg to play because I am getting bored of the same old same old. So after saying all this can everyone who reads this recommend me a few rpg games to play on this site. I would very much appreciate it. -Jayron122 -Jayron122 |

Have you tried Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga or Paper Mario? Those are unique RPGs that are very highly regarded. And, there are many Pokemon hacks on here that are different than the other Pokemon games. |

epic-san: Thank you for the recommendations I've played both of the games you told me I should try and I loved both of them they were both great games. Paper Mario I almost beat and I really liked it, it was fun even though I die a lot at it but the story was good and the game was good. Then there is the super Mario rpg: legend of the seven stars. That was a good game I liked it but I didn't make it far because whenever I tried to equip something it would freeze so I wouldn't get very far actually I only got the first character and then it would freeze if I tried to equip the hammer. So overall thanks for the recommendations. Thank you for the recommendations I've played both of the games you told me I should try and I loved both of them they were both great games. Yeah, I'm in the same situation. I've been considering playing a new (to me) game, but I don't want another RPG clone.
I'm just starting these, so I can't say much one way or the other, but what about Golden Sun, and Kingdom Hearts? Also Earthbound seems interesting enough. These don't seem as original as the Mario RPGs, but they are a little bit of a departure from the others. At least it looks like it. mrfe: First of all thank you for actually responding to this thread. Second of all I looked up fire emblem and there was a lot of options, so I choose the first two Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stone and just Fire Emblem. I preferred Fire Emblem: The scared stone over fire emblem but both of those games I liked. Fire Emblem kind of reminds me of Final Fantasy tactics advanced. Except how the weapons breaking and much more... but over all I like how you fight like the tactics system. I also love the story in both Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stone, and Fire Emblem. I also like how the graphics are especially when the to people are fighting. So overall both games were awesome and I thank you for showing me the fire emblems. My favorite rpgs are the Shinning series and the Phantasy star series for the Sega Genesis. Shinning in the darkness is a dungeon crawler with turn based fighting and an over all great game, Shinning force 1 and 2 have more strategy in the battles than any other rpg I have ever played. The Phantasy star games are probably Segas most popular rpg franchise (originally realest on the Sega Master System), but yea if you are looking for awesome rpgs I would highly suggest checking them out. Oh, um there's lots. Final fantasy is one of them there are six real ones and a bunch of hacks. One of the ones that I have is a hack, but the reason why it's a hack is because it is a game that has two final fantasy's in all. It has the first two games. there are other hacks but that specific hack is called, Final fantasy 1 & 2 Dawn of souls. The final fantasy series has nothing to do with each-other so you can play any one of them first.
Also there is pokemon. Another incredible RPG. There is many of them. This website only has two of the gens but many games. Pokemon Emerald, Ruby, and Sapphire are in the same gen but have a different legendary that you can catch for each game. Rayquaza is in pokemon Emerald. Rayquaza is dragon and wind type. Groudon is in Ruby. Groudon is earth type. Kyogre is in Sapphire. Kyoger is water type. Next there is fire red and leaf green. The only thing different about the two, is that leaf green is a remake of fire red. Leaf green is probably better. There are many others, but these are two very big series. Also there is pokemon. There are a lot of RPGs in the RGR but probably one of the best in Chrono Trigger for the SNES. Also try Golden Sun for the GBA. |

I too adore Pokemon (playing heart gold on my DSi now) but something I love evenmore so is Megaman, on this website specifically, the Megaman Battle Network series. The storyline really progresses throughout 1-3, 4 has a bunch of gimmicks, 4.5 is the same but in japanese only, 5 is a progression of 1-3 and 6 sums it all up into a grand finale. MMBN2 and 3 are my favourites, and I find there is no point in playing MMBN1--Just watch a walkthrough or read a summary of it to get the idea. There is no EXP or turns in MMBN though, it just goes in a series of critical analysis configurations which you decide to use, ie, the enemy moves or attacks while you attack. If you try it out, I hope you'll enjoy it! |

Touhoumon World Link and Touhoumon Another World. Preferably Another World because it's built from the ground up and is quite the adventure. It's a Pokémon hack with dolls/puppets instead of animals. I also like playing Earthbound and Mother 3 from time to time. Persona 2 isn't too great gameplay-wise but has a storyline you do NOT wanna miss out on. Every one except for the Persona one is on Vizzed. Now go out there and play some games bro. Image upload: 411x372 totaling 21 KB's. Touhoumon World Link and Touhoumon Another World. If you like Final Fantasy you should definitely try Chrono Trigger. It's a very engaging game that's a lot of fun. It has a similar battle system as Final Fantasy games but it isn't turn based and doesn't give you the breaks in between an enemy attacking for you to plan what to do. You have to be quick on your toes or else the enemies will just keep hitting you. |

Chrono Trigger is one that really ought to entertain you, especially with its deep storyline. The gameplay is dynamic, yet in many ways simple, and it's one where being able to go first is far more of an advantage than being able to do a huge amount of damage or sustain as much. MOTHER series is a great one because of the sheer ludicrousness of it all, as well as the sheer horror of the endgame in all of them. All so much fun, but just try not to beat Earthbound before you go to bed. You'll keep seeing fetuses, twisted faces, and hearing, "It hurts, Ness..." every time you close your eyes. To throw everyone for a loop, I recommend the Ultima series, in all its 8-bit or lower glory. Exodus is likely the one you'd be inclined to play the most at first, but I recommend that you play Ultima- A New Exodus instead, as it fixes many of the issues that were present in the original NES version of the game. Also, I'd say it has what is potentially the greatest NES soundtrack ever. Quest of the Avatar is another good one, what with it focusing more on the fact that you're basically supposed to try making your character into some kind of saint instead of beat boss after boss. That both of them are very sandbox-y, especially for their time, really makes them shine through, though I will warn you, they can be hard as all Hell at the earlier levels. Now that I think about it, Secret of Evermore is a great one as well, in spite of how linear it is. When you reach Ebon Keep in Gothica, you'll hardly be able to leave; the place itself, as well as the music, are so melancholy and beautiful that you won't even want to beat it. I would play the Fire Emblem series, as someone else pointed out, and I would do it in this order: Fire Emblem: Sacred Stones, Fire Emblem, and Fire Emblem: The Last Promise. FE8 is a good intro to the series because it's easier than the other games, Fire Emblem is the first game that came to America and is very good, and The Last Promise (V 1.3) is a hack of Fire Emblem that I'm playing right now which is excellent in its level of difficulty and its cast of characters. |

Besides Final Fantasy, I HIGHLY recommend Sweet Home, the MOTHER series, the Dragon Quest series, and the Fire Emblem series. I bet you've probably heard of MOTHER, Dragon Quest, and Fire Emblem, so I'll talk about Sweet Home. Sweet Home, a highly underrated game, is an RPG about five researchers becoming trapped in the mansion of a famous fresco artist. Inside, the group learns about the horrifying history of the mansion. The game is very unique with its set of five characters, each having their own job. One has a torch, another a key, one a camera, another a vacuum, and the last a medical kit. The fun part of this though, is you only have a limited party of 3, so how would you set up your party? Also, if a character dies, they're gone for good, so be cautious! This game is for the NES and can be played right here on vizzed. I hope you check it out! (WARNING: While this is an NES game, it is still terrifying! Play at your own risk....) |
