Can someone explain how breeding works in this game? I know that if two breed correctly an egg hatches, but how does the Pokémon that hatches get special moves, and do I have to use lots of calcium on the two that are breeding?

you are trying to get a certain group of pokemons to breed?.
your hydreigon from the chat i gues?.

breeding is easyer then it looks.
you get 2 pokemons with positive sp.atk. but the female on must have higher since as i know most of the IV's from mother pokemons are gained by the eggs.
also you schould look at serebi.com to see what Egg moves pokemon learn but since light platinum is a hacked game it would be all differend..
so its getting harder.

and also. hydreigen only has dragon as breeding group so he can only breed with the following pokemon:
charmander,charmeleon,charizard
ekens,arbok
horsea,seadra,kingdra
magikarp,gyarados
dratini,dragonair,dragonite
treecko,grovyle,sceptile
zwablu,altaria
serviper
feebas,milotic
bagon,shelgon,salamancee
gible,garbite,garchomp
scraggy,scrafty
azew fraxure,haxorus
druddigon
deino
zweilous
hydreigon
and ofcourse ditto.

I consider trying a breeding with:
charizard,hydreigon,salamance and maybe sceptile.
for sp.atk it is.
for atk you consider:
dragonite,gyarados,salamance,garchommp,haxorus
you can also try spd(speed)
sceptile,kingdra
good luck. if you need more. feel free to ask

Well when pokemon are breeded, they have a chance to inherit a special move from the male partner. These moves are called egg moves. Pokemon are divided into separate groups. Every pokemon in that one group is compatible with another. So a Charizard and a Sceptile could actually make a baby. When breeding 2 entirely different pokemon, the egg will be the female's basic evolution pokemon, and a move the male knows that the egg can know too. This is how you get a piloswine and yanma to learn ancient power, since they can't learn it just from leveling over time. I've actually done this before. Had a seadra, and a hydreigon together in the day care. I wanted to have a horsea that while weak, knew outrage. The egg was a male horsea, that did know outrage.

I'm not exactly so sure "Light Platinum" has the exact same rules for breeding, but just know that this applies to every actual pokemon game
