I want to see how many people on vizzed are or have been homeschooled?  People say that if your home schooled, that you are not socialized well, this however isn't true, we homeschoolers do lots of social things like co-ops, homeschool choir, church, hanging out with friends in your neighborhood, sports, I go to Civil Air Patrol also. So just to let you know before you get into an argument about it,  people who say that are wrong.

I have never been, but last year, we were thinking of homeschooling me this year. I eventually decided to not be homeschooled this year, which I am happy for, as I have the best teacher that I have ever had so far.

I have been home-schooled for 3 years now and I love it. I can actually have fun learning the reason I am home-schooled is because I had to be out of school for medical appointments. I am an introvert but that doesn't  mean I am not social I go to my local gym and art classes.

I'm just kidding. I actually do believe in Homeschooling! As long as the parents are smart and learn about teaching before jumping into it. And, like you said, if they ensure their child has a lot of socializing and learns to deal with people and confrontations and the like.

The effectiveness of homeschooling seriously depends on what kind of family you're in and who's teaching. I know a few families with kids that have very little acceptable social skill. I can interact with people just fine because I was public schooled for a good share of my life.

Clayton 2 :  I know a family who does public school online, they used to homeschool, but they 8 kids so it was a bit hard on the mother.
I know some people also who don't get socialization, because they are sheltered by their parents.

They way my mother taught was so bad and unsocial it just sucked. I have to admit though middle school is really taught and I cant wait to get out.

When you are a kid, you cant really tell how good your parents are as teachers. If they were professional teachers, they would not be home schooling you. Especially if you have not been taught by anybody else than your parents, who can you even compare them to?

Sure I bet it sucks when you have to go and be with the rest of the kids at a public school or who knows, any other school or a workplace after being at home with your mommy all your life but that is the way in the real world, unless you work at a family business of some sorts. But even if you would live in a town where all the other kids would have been home schooled either. The most of us were not and we (not saying I necessarily) will eat you alive.

It's an idea floating in the air. I've had several PPT'S on what to do about this school issue, but right now I am only in school for 1 out of four blocks, which is about an hour. Then I go home. But I'm thinking about it, the only thing making me stay in that building is my friends, though. What I'm mainly saying is, I might be put into home schooling.
'Tis all in the hands of time and decision making.
