This was undoubtedly my favorite of the
first generation Game Boy Color Pokémon games. Pokémon Yellow was
intended to be almost, if not an exact, clone of the anime series,
holding true to this by bringing back numerous key elements that were
previously not in Red, Blue, and Green. One example, Team Rocket's
Jesse and James follow you with consistency, in order to battle you
to steal Pikachu. They have changed little about their team, sure to
have Meowth in tow, along with annoying poison types, of course.
They will be quite easy, however, as long as you are at a reasonable
level. This game also introduced a key element to my enjoyment of
this game, which was re-introduced in HeartGold and SoulSilver, that
infuriated me to no end when it was not in Black, White, Platinum,
etc. I'm talking about the aspect of Pikachu following you. This
was very fun for me, I liked to talk to him and be able to see his
emotions. Another thing I loved about this game was the ability to
have all of Bulbasaur, Charmander, and Squirtle on your team to
accompany Pikachu. Like I said, similar to the anime. This game
also disallowed you to evolve Pikachu into Raichu, if I do recall.
Although Brock and Misty will not join you on your adventures, you
still get the satisfaction of wiping Misty out with godly ease. This
game was quite was quite greatly put together, though, as it still
lets me enjoy the game as if I were in the anime,, but not all of it
was there. The game was still tailored to Red, Blue, and Green's
story to some extent. You didn't get every single side quest and NPC
as there is in the anime. Although this game was not an exact copy
of the anime, it still stood out to me as my favorite original

Nice review! I like how you get to play the game as if you were Ash.
