So it was reported today that Nintendo is remaking Wind Waker for the WiiU with fresh updated graphics (Similar to what they did with OoT on the 3DS) They also announced a few features such as off-tv play with the tablet.
The game is expected to be released next fall. Nintendo also said another Zelda title is in the works but that it was a long ways off and the provided no details other than the tease. http://kotaku.com/5978276/nintendo-is-remaking-the-legend-of-zelda-wind-waker-for-wii-u I know that this Zelda title is often the subject of debate. It gets people riled up one way or the other. Personally when the game first came out, I made fun of it too. I had been playing Zelda since the first game came out and I didn't really like that so much of the game was spent sailing around. In the years since, I have grown to appreciate the game. I like that they tried to do something different with the art style and game play. Should be interesting to see what the updated version looks like. What are your thoughts? Oh, that's awesome. I always loved The Windwaker. Sure, it was something new in the series, with new graphic style and so on, but it didn't make TLoZ worse or something like that. For me, it rather improved the series and made it more interesting, because it had some kind of a new atmosphere, but still it was The Legend of Zelda. Now it was about time that Nintendo makes a remake of it, because it was the first Zelda game with 'Toon Link' and you can say it started a new era of TLoZ. So The Windwaker is even a kind of a classic title in a way, especially since it were already ten years ago, when they released it. I just hope they will add some more than only the graphics and controls or gameplay. Maybe putting the harder mode, that you unlock after finishing the game once, to the menu like they did with Masterquest in Ocarina of Time 3D. So if you only played the normal game on GameCube, you can now just start the harder one. :p However, I don't think that I will play this game, because I don't have a Wii U, and I'm probably going to buy the 3DS. Honestly I'm pretty excited about it too. Although I don't currently have a Wii U, games like these will help me want to purchase one. I hope that a price drop next fall happens as well (similar to what happened with the 3DS)
I would love to actually play through the entire game this time around. I'm sure they will tweak the menus and stuff similar to what they did with OoT. They just wont mess with the game too much because they don't want to irritate the fans ;-) I would love to actually play through the entire game this time around. I'm really excited for that to happen. One thing though, like the way they changed the water temple in the 3DS version of ocarina of time, I want them to make the triforce shard quest less long. It takes forever to get to the place, there is some unnecessary thing to do, and then you have to find the treasure. It was annoying, I literally got sick of wind waker and stopped during that quest. |

I think it won't be that great the original was my least favorite game of the entire series, I think this one won't be much better. But i might give it a shot just to see if they actually changed anything like they say they are. |

I get tired of these remakes of games just being refurnished for the next console. I rather see more new games. As for the fact the remake is Wind Waker, I know I will not be getting it.I have it on gamecube, I do not need to buy a remake to enjoy it. I am sure there will be a few add-ins or changes that give the game a slightly different appearance, but not enough for me to go out and buy a second copy of it. Mind, I am a Legend of Zelda fan, but not a HUGE one. As for the fact the remake is Wind Waker, I know I will not be getting it.I have it on gamecube, I do not need to buy a remake to enjoy it. austipokedude : I don't understand why people keep bringing up the controls. It will control the same way it did on the GameCube I assume only with a few tweaks to update the menus and whatnot.
As far as the remakes go. I see what people mean but in the case of a great game that many people like (OoT, Windwaker etc) I don't mind it Personally I don't own a gamecube and I haven't for some time. I've never played through the entire game so I would purchase it just to be able to play through the whole thing. Kwojiba : I wouldn't expect the game to change that much. Similar to when the remade Ocarina of Time on the 3DS. They will probably tweak some things that people complained about in the original, menus, control screen, maybe making a dungeon a little less maddening. Things like that. Nothing drastic though. They wan to keep the core game the same as to not upset the fans. As far as the remakes go. Jordanv78 : the reason why people keep talking about the controls in my opinion it's because it looks a little more complicated to use you know with all the things you can do for example use it as a remote.Iam just excited that they stopped making ocarina of time remakes I know it's perhaps one of the best Zelda games but it doesn't mean make three remakes for it. |

austipokedude : I'm wondering, how it looks a little more complicated? It's a controller. I mean you figure out how to use a Nintendo DS/ 3DS right? Do you have a tablet like an iPad or Android? These aren't complicated things lol
I do like the idea that the tablet controller for the wii-u allows you to continue playing the game without the need of the TV. Anyways they didn't make that many remakes of OoT. They had one of the Gamecube (Master Quest) Then they released one like 10 years later on a different handheld with improved graphics etc. I get what you mean, but it doesn't seem that excessive to me. You know how many times PacMan, Frogger, or games like the Original Sonic that have been released on almost every platform known to man?? A lot ;-) I do like the idea that the tablet controller for the wii-u allows you to continue playing the game without the need of the TV. Anyways they didn't make that many remakes of OoT. I sorta like it, I mean you wouldn't have to go to a pause menu to get to any items... And maybe the sailing aspect could even get better. as long as they keep the original charm of the game I'll be happy. mourinhosgum : I didn't like WindWaker cuz the graphics were cartoony just not the same as the rest of the games, the other games also had much better story lines too but that's just a matter of personal opinion. |

Jordanv78 : Well a few years ago I quite playing Mario so much because I was getting older and I wanted a more mature adventure game to play. Ocarina of Time did this for me and I've been a Zelda fan since. I wanted to buy some more up to date Zelda games so I looked online. Up to this point I had played OOT and MM on the original N64. I saw Twilight princess, it looked awesome, but then saw Wind Waker, yeah you can kinda guess on what I thought of those graphics. I just couldn't stand it. Zelda is a mature game series that the whole family can enjoy, like Star Wars, not a Hannah Barbear cartoon. I purchased Twilight Princess and it was pretty good , although I liked much more after my second playthrough (being a difficulty run). I've heard that Wind Waker was good (gameplay wise). But Ijust wish that Nintendo would just forget the game unless they change the graphic style. I'm pretty sure that they aren't going to do that though, after all they thought it was wonderful. Just read the little booklet that comes with master quest for preordering Wind Waker. Why am I some what upset with Wind Waker? Well Nintendo made the game. . . people played it who never played Zelda before. . . And they liked it. . . and they think that Zelda games should follow a formula based on that game . . . and graphic style. . . and we get a new generation of Zelda fans. . . who don't know what Zelda really is. . . and Nintendo gets away with it and still makes money! Before Wind Waker, Most of the Zelda games were in the middle as of graphics, now most of the games are too childish. The cell shading graphic style is overused, it's been used four times now? and OOT's? twice. When the game comes out, I'll definitely get it, I'll probably have fun with it to, but why not OOT and MM? Sorry to be so negative, I don't like being negative, I am happy that I won't have to wait three years for a Zelda game that I haven't played though. adventure game to play. |

Dark knight of the blackened sun. I am Sword Legion, one of many. My mask is thick, and my armor is strong. All the more necessary in a world such as this. . . |

I don't get why people say "It's not mature enough so it sucks"
I understand I didn't really like the cell shading either, although I have grown to love the bright and vibrant colors now...back when the game first came out what I didn't like the most was that a ton of the game seemed to be floating around on a boat. I just didn't get it. In the years since I have grown to really enjoy the game. Sure it isn't my favorite Zelda of all time, but it's still a great game. I have been a fan since the first Zelda game came out and several of the games have been a little different. Heck OoT was a huge difference in what Zelda had been up until that point and everyone loved that game... Either way it will be nice that they are re-releasing it. I will have to get a Wii-U to play this, and the NEW Zelda game that will come out in the next couple of years. SuperCrash64 : Zelda has not "ended" the series is still going. As I said in a previous post they hinted towards another NEW Zelda game for the Wii U but didn't give any details.
Trust me, as long as Nintendo is making systems, they will make a Zelda game. Trust me, as long as Nintendo is making systems, they will make a Zelda game. |
