Does anyone know what the formula is for EXP while idle is? It isn't really mentioned anywhere...

It's on your profile and in the table cell that says "EXP status"  (the middle table under the largest table on the page).  For example, mine says "16.355 seconds to gain 1 EXP when idle"

I don't know if it actually works though.

For example, I think we are supposed to get Viz whenever someone responds to one of our threads, but I was paying attention to my Viz earlier when someone responded to my threads, and I didn't get any Viz.  It might be something that needs to be worked on.  (I can't find where I read this, doing a quick search.  Maybe it was xp you are supposed to gain when someone responds to one of your threads?)

In any case, maybe someone else can either confirm or correct me if I'm wrong.

Singelli : I have no idea, I can't really tell, since my EXP while idle is like 2,000 seconds, but what I meant was like what is the formula for how it is calculated like, is it "x/exp" where x is a extremely large number "ie: 1,000,000,000" Or if it is more complicated then that, because I want to just be able to see how much EXP I need for my idle exp to be like 10 seconds, or 60 seconds, or something like that . It sounds confusing, but to me it makes sense

I can at least confirm that the EXP while idle question was answered correctly and it DOES work (mine is almost 30 seconds so I just wait 30 seconds and refreshed and EXP went up by 1).

I also thought that you did indeed gain Viz for every reply to a thread you posted. I'm almost certain it at least did do that at one time and people have made threads solely out of hope that they'd get some extra Viz off the responses to them.

I haven't watched that one lately, though.

EDIT: So you mean that you want to know how it figures out how long it takes to gain 1 EXP while idle? As in what determines the number each person has?

If I'm not mistaken, it's based on how long you've been here. The longer you're a member, the shorter wait time. Possibly number of posts or actual EXP total might affect it as well, but I'm not sure about that one. I also don't have a clue what the exact formula is.

I was wondering if that was what you meant after I hit submit.  LOL

Yeah, I don't think that formula is posted anywhere.  Davideo would be the only one to know it, and he probably doesn't have it memorized by heart if it's something he hasn't changed since he created the forum board.  Let's just say it will take a really, really long time for you to reach that goal. XD  I mean, I'm like level 60ish, with almost half a million words and over 2,000 posts, and it's 1 EXP per 16ish seconds.

Crazy Li :  So it is Viz then, and not experience?  I watched mine today out of curiosity and it wasn't working in that case

Crazy Li : I never thought of the amount of time you have been here affecting it. I am going to try to figure it out, and since I am sick, I will have a ton of time. Doing (EXP*EXP while idle time) / days registered gets most people close to the same answer, so I feel like I am only missing one thing that is important or something. For me it got somewhere around 177000 but for Singelli it got around 173000, so there is something missing, or I am just completely wrong and that was a stroke of luck

I looked at profiles of various posters, looking at both days registered and poster levels. The difference between a level 60 poster and a level 94 poster was only about a second. Go all the way up to level 186 and suddenly you're looking at gaining a 1 EXP every 1.7 seconds or so. That's a drastic difference from the 17.2 seconds for our level 94 member despite the level 94 member being here almost as long as the level 186 person (about a month difference).

It seems level plays a bigger role than time, which is not what I previously thought.

Post experience might be involved as well.

Since the seconds for 1 EXP is inversely proportional to the level (or even days on the site if that's a factor), the formula is going to have to involve negative squares... something like X^-Y yadda yadda...

I tried level^-1*1000 on Singelli's numbers which brought me to 16.667... and while that number is in the ballpark, running it on my own, gives 21.277 which is a good 8 seconds off from mine. There's another factor involved that we're not seeing here. When 13 levels apart accounts for a 13 second difference, but 34 levels apart give a 1 second difference... level clearly isn't the deciding factor.

Crazy Li : Well, if it is about dividing numbers, then the closer the divisor is to the dividend the smaller the answer is, so it kinda makes sense. If it was 5,000,000 / 1000 EXP, it would be 5000 seconds idle, and if you added only like 100 exp to make it 5,000,000 / 1100 EXP, the exp while idle would be 4545.45, which is more then 7 and a half minutes difference with only 100 more exp. But if someone say had 1,000,000 EXP, it would be 5 seconds idle for 1 EXP, and if you added 100 to that, the quotient would be 4.9995, which is basically no difference. That is one explanation to why it would be like that.
I'm only in 7th grade though, so I have no idea how the x^-y thing would work, since I haven't really learned anything about negative numbers to the power of stuff or whatever . And when I tried your formula with my level, I got 142.85 seconds, and that is waaaay off.

Oh, I know my formula is incorrect. I just feel like that's the way you have to approach it since it's an inverse proportion. I just don't know the exact numbers that need to be plugged in.

But it's also possible I'm over-complicating things and looking for formulas too advanced. I blame College Mathematics :x

Crazy Li : If only someone had exactly 1 second idle time and another had 2 seconds of idle time with them both signing up at the exact same time, then we could compare all of their numbers and compare from there. That would make things a lot easier
