Okay, so for the past couple of months I have been playing a game on the PC, called League of Legends. Pretty much LoL as it is commonly known is a free to play MOBA (Multiplayer Online Battle Arena) game. League of Legends was released by Riot Games in 2009, and currently has 109 different champions to play from and growing. Just about every month Riot releases a new champion to add to the League of Legends roster. Also there are three different servers available to players in different regions of the world. There is the North America, EU West, and EU Nordic and East servers. Currently, League of Legends is supported by e-sports and has hundreds of different pro players across the world as well as teams from each part of the world. Gamebattles, a site that supports MLG (Major League Gaming) is one of many sites that have competitions for money and different prizes. It has been reported that League of Legends averages about 64 Million Players every two months and that more people watch live streaming of League of Legends then America’s favorite pass time baseball. According to Forbes.com League of Legends is more popular then WoW (World of Warcraft). At its peak World of Warcraft how 12 million subscribers, while League of Legends averages around 32 Million players monthly. Moving on the article on Forbes.com compares LoL to Stream. On one Friday in July Stream had an average of 650,000 gamers playing the top 100 games on their site. Meanwhile, League of Legends averaged Three Million gamers on the same Friday in July. This almost beats the 3.3 Million players that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 posted. Not convinced? During this time that this article from Forbes.com was posted, pop sensation Psy had 1.6 Million likes on facebook. However, League of Legends had 4.2 Million likes on facebook. Also just to tell you how popular this game is Microsoft’s famous franchise Halo just recently posted how it hit the 2 Billion hours of playtime since 2004. League of Legends shatters that by having 1 Billion hours of playtime a month. So what is next for League of Legends? Maybe the most active subscribers? Well, let’s put that to rest shall we. League of Legends is at the time that Forbes released this article at 35 Million subscribers almost to Microsoft’s X-Box Live subscribers which is sitting at 40 Million. Now I know what most of you all are saying, and that is I have never heard of League of Legends before so how can this be? That is true there isn’t or has ever been much advertising for League of Legends. In fact, for the 6 months that I have played this game I may have only seen a dozen ad’s for League of Legends on different websites. However, that has not stopped this games popularity, in fact, with season two ending a couple of months ago. There were over 2 million people streaming live to watch the final Championship match. That is more viewers then what ESPN gets with a normal Baseball game. So what’s the point of this article besides to brag about a game that few really know about yet is still so popular? Well, my point in all this is to get the word out. Here is a game that most of the people on vizzed.com probably don’t know anything about. So what I wanted to do was get the word out to all of you at vizzed.com about this game. Some may not like League of Legends, while others will. That is okay as long as you give it a chance. League of Legends offers a lot of playable champions to play which makes for different game play each time you play. There are four different maps and three different game types. However, don’t just take my word for it and different articles praising this game. Go and check it out for yourselves it’s for PC and Mac, however, the Mac version is a beta so instead of going into a straight PvP game or a Bot game do a custom match and make sure your beta doesn't crash or has any lag issues. For you PC users you can download the game at leagueoflegends.com. For you Mac users out there, “google” League of Legends and look for the first Mac version you can find. If you are looking for a friend to play with hit me up on LoL Gamer-tag is djinn8345. See you all on the battle field. I still haven't played League of Legends yet. I've heard a lot about it but just never gotten around to actually playing it.
What I've heard about the actual game, I think I would enjoy. Although I have heard that this game is commonly known as having THE WORST community of users of any game..worse even than a COD game...which is BAD lol What I've heard about the actual game, I think I would enjoy. Jordanv78 : its not that bad of a community. They helped me out a lot while learning the game and I have played call of duty a lot and would say that Leagues community is better. However, it all depends on the person and to each their own when it comes to opinion. |

lilwildwolf21 : I have heard tons about this game at my school. The guys in the game room always begged me to play it with them. I glazed over this title because I was really into minecraft at the time. I don't know if it is the kind of action for me. I don't like games that are even slightly like MMORPGs, there is just too much going on and there's always a ton of jerks and total noob haters! I watch my son play COD:BOPs II sometimes and he has to turn off the voice because even the people in his age group are super offensive. Is LoL like that is there that potential for distastefulness from your fellow gamers? |

Yeah I don't know about the whole community thing. I'd say it's probably more toxic than whatever I've dealt with in terms of online games, but that's probably because I don't play Call of Duty. A language filter is automatically on the first time you play the game so that's pretty much covered but that probably wouldn't stop people from being inappropriate sometimes. Basically, if you're really invested in the game and you really want to improve in the game, you really wouldn't care about what people do to screw around with your head and make you irritated, and you can always just ignore them with a button that mutes them. It's a bit daunting at first, because you really need to learn the ins and outs of the game to really do well in it, and it's frustrating when you don't, even if no one tries to pick on you about it. But it's incredibly fun and satsifying once you do. Get some friends to play with you often so you're less likely to run into toxic players, and play the game. It's incredibly time-consuming though! xD Basically, if you're really invested in the game and you really want to improve in the game, you really wouldn't care about what people do to screw around with your head and make you irritated, and you can always just ignore them with a button that mutes them. Are there toxic player in League of Legends? The answer is yes, however, there are toxic players in every game you play. Riot in the the past couple of months have banned I believe four "Pro" players for toxic behavior. Not only that but you are able to report players for toxic behavior, which riot takes very seriously. Also, Like was said before you are able to mute the players and even disable the "all" chat so you don't have to read the hateful text. Because, I play this a lot I have learned to really ignore most of the players on this game. However, my advice is to find friends that you can play with to limit the toxic behavior that happens during the game. Lots of people use skype or mumble to communicate while playing this game. The only issue with League of Legends would have to be it's community, in which there are more bad losers/winners and more players with bad attitudes. And it is these kinds of players that put off the good hearted new players to the game because they don't what to play a game where all that happens is they get flamed every game for not knowing something despite being new. |

LOL is a great game in opinion. When you first start playing and you have a low lvl account there a ridiculous amount of smurfs and greifers. I don't know if the terminology smurf is used in other games so here's its meaning, a smurf is a player typically a ranked player who made a new account to fight lower lvl players. Basically they do it to have a quick match were they beat the crap out of the other team. Because of this, the game is difficult to learn and finding the right champion for you is well, it all depends on the free week they have and what champions you want to buy with the in-game currency you earn after each match. After your account reaches about lvl twenty the amount of greifers goes down and there are no smurfs. Call me an idiot but I've spent real money on this free to play game. You get tired looking at the default skins and icons know what I mean? Currently I have a max lvl account, my screen name is Cressela, so if you decide to make an account please say Cressela recommended you when it comes to the refer-a-friend screen. I thank you if you did that and understand if you don't.
When I first started playing my kill death score was 0,15 each match. As soon as I bought my first champion and learned the how to build his items my average kill death score changed to 3,5 and now since I have found what kind of champions I am good at playing my kill death score changed to 6,2. average. Of course I still run into players that are way better than me and that's because I am still tweaking my builds so they can guarantee me at least three kills. As in most games there are several different groups champions fall under, Tank, Support, ADC, and Jungler. In those there are sub groups like for example a Bruiser or duelist. Duelist's are champions like Fiora who whittle down the enemy's health then go in for the kill. Late game a good Fiora is a real pain to fight. Bruiser's are champions like Volibear (referred to as Voli by players), they can take a lot of damage and deal a lot of damage. Then there are just traditional Tanks, ridiculous amount of health, armor, and magic resist. Perfect example of that Jarven IV (referred to as J4 by players). LOL is a great game in opinion. That is true there are a lot of smurf accounts, in fact, I'm guilty of having four of them....However, my reason for having four of them is so I can focus on having just one type of champion per account. So I have a Mid, top lane, ACD, Support, and Jungle account. Mid is my main account that I use for ranked games while the others are "smurf" accounts that I can practice other lanes with and learn other roles. LOL does have a lot of toxic players and Riot is trying their best to weed those out. I think with in this last season they banned 12 pro players due to their Toxic Nature. I'm not as active as I was when I first wrote this article about League of Legends, mostly because I stopped trying to get to the challenger pier for Ranked play...Silver V has been the highest I got. lilwildwolf21 : I used to play DOTA for Warcraft 3 and when I did I played using Hamachi and Garena. When I heard that people left DOTA to play LOL I quit playing it altogether. I went to check the game out but it looked like it had too much to offer to take the time to get involved with it. I did want to play it but it seemed even more complex that DOTA. |

I played LoL for a few months. I remember, my first week had both Teemo and Ziggs F2P, and I loved both of them. Teemo would be the first champion that I bought.
I found the game to be generally well designed, but the community became increasingly irritating, especially at higher levels. Then, about 6 months ago, I quit all together. Though most people were not bad, it really only took one ****** in one game to ruin my day. And frequently, these people would come in droves. Game after game, often times entire teams made up of them. I found the game to be generally well designed, but the community became increasingly irritating, especially at higher levels. yeah that is true...and the more they opened their mouths the worst you did right? They were putting you in what is called a Tiff. Which is a psychological state of mind. The best way to play League is to not care about winning and just playing the game you know how, and when people start acting like jerks you iggy them rather through the game or by not reading the text. You will be amazed as to how much your game will turn around just by doing one of those two things. Also change it up a bit instead of playing rank game after rank game play a normal game to every two ranked games. This has helped me a lot when I was playing this like every hour of the day. Now that most of the people who taught me how to play League don't play any more I have stopped playing it as much. You really do need to have a solid group of people to play with in order to make League any kind of fun |

When you do find someone with a negative attitude it does ruin your game doesn't it. I don't play many ranked games, in fact none at all. I tried playing one once but I found it to intense for me. There is just a different feel to the game in ranked. Maybe if I had a team to play with it would be more comfortable, you wouldn't be screamed at through a chat box when you die, they'd just look over the screen and scream at you lol. I don't agree with lilwildwolf21. I have never played the game with someone I actually know in real life, and I find this game fun. I had this noob asking me once to give him RP, after a couple games together he asked if I could. I said no and he never logged on again. What did he think I would say, sure have my money? lol wonder how old he was to ask that. When you do find someone with a negative attitude it does ruin your game doesn't it.
