So, as the first official competition, we're going with a SpeedRun of Cave Story's level Sacred Ground - The only level in which you can actually use a timer on.

The files you will need are, as listed in the description, the Game, the English Translation Patch (This is more or less optional, you don't NEED it, but it makes it more enjoyable due to the story that comes with the level), and the Save Data for the level.

(all downloads provided by the official site for Cave Story. The original version is freeware, as opposed to Cave Story +, which is $10 on Steam)

YOU WILL NEED TO FOLLOW THESE DIRECTIONS CAREFULLY TO GET THE SAVE FILE TO WORK CORRECTLY
1) Extract the Cave Story .zips all into one folder
2) Find the save data "Start of Sacred Ground stage with Spur.dat"
3) Put it in the Doukutsu folder (cave Story game folder)
4) Find the file labeled "Profile.dat" and delete it.
5) After you delete it, or if there isn't already a "Profile.dat" file, rename the Sacred Ground save file TO "Profile.dat"
6) Go to "DoConfig". If you have used the English Translation, the Screen Size options will be clear. If you haven't, it's the option bar on the bottom right. Choose the one with 640 x etc on the end.
7) Launch game. If you did not add the English Translation, choose the BOTTOM OPTION ON THE START MENU. Top is "New Game", bottom is "Load Game".

After doing all that, it should work. Note: Sacred Ground is extremely difficult. Be sure to look up a video showing how to pass the level.

Prizes
Prizes include: 5,000 Viz as a starting price. As more people join, more Viz is added. Maximum amount the Viz can go to is 20,000 Viz. This layout featured in this thread/post is also a prize.

How do I prove my time is real?
Simple. When you have beaten Ballos, a dialogue section will show up, and your time will pause. Go to your Vizzed Profile, have the Cave Story game opened up, and take a full screenshot. Your username MUST be visible. After taking the picture, upload it to imgur.com and link to the picture in a post.

Also, just an update: Realizing how truly difficult beating Ballos is, I decided that the place you need to take the Screenshot is right before you talk to the Dog. Will update this post with an example soon (A bad one, at that), Nya~.

I just might take part in this, I just got the game last night and want to complete it before I go off and participate in a competition about it.
