Hey, I"m not sure if this is the right forum to ask this, so I apologize in advance if I got it wrong. But I have been having issues with the RGR crashing randomly sometimes. It'll work fine forever, and then just suddenly crash. Is this my computer doing something weird? It seems to be worse on certain games (Mario Party 3 was crashing every turn on me the other day) but even random games that I never had a problem with have started doing it (it just crashed on Link Minish Cap).

Is there something I can do to stop this? Does anyone else have this problem occasionally? I'm not complaining-I should be saving more, so it's my fault if I loose a lot of game time. I just wondered...
I usually use the RGR without a chat box, default size.

thudricdholee : Well there can be any number of reasons that a game crashes. N64 games can crash because of emulation issues with certain games, or that your Graphics card is having a hard time displaying everything in-game.

You can also have an issue where Adobe Flash Crashes for one reason or another.

Also Minish Cap has an issue with the game crashing at a certain point. This has to do with the Emulator Version the RGR uses not being able to emulate those parts of the Rom well.

There is a thread already created telling you how to get around this. Also you can use the medafen emulator to get around that issue as well.

I'll go looking for the thread about the Minish cap. I hope I can get around it; switching emulators means starting the whole thing over again, lol. Oh well.

thudricdholee : You could also try switching browsers. I've noticed lately that Vizzed has been crashing more using FireFox after the recent update than it has in the past. Maybe try using Chrome and see if you have better results.

That wont fix the Minish Cap issue, but it could help with the stability issue you are having with other games.

I found the threads you were talking about. The one about copying saved states would probably take care of it, but I feel weird about using someone else's saved game. It feels like cheating, and while I do cheat sometimes, I think that might be more than I want to do.
I restarted the game in the medafen emulator. Hopefully this one works, but if not, I guess I'll just regretfully delete the game and move on to a new one. Good thing there's so many great games on here to choose from!

yes that happened to me 3 times once i just needed some time off Viz and when i got back on it work anouther i forgot to update my plugin last one to many people where on the game at once hope this answers your question + help you

There are certain games that are known to crash and there isn't really anything you can to do prevent it. Some of these games do work in Mednafen (Tactics Ogre is an example), but I'm not sure if all of the ones that crash on the RGR's version of VBA will work in that. It seems to be the best bet for a solution to VBA's problems though.

Curiously, these games all seem to work in the official version of VBA as far as I'm aware.

Ah well. I believe my questions have been answered. I was mostly just concerned that it might be an issue with my computer, rather than the site-I really wasn't trying to complain, I promise. I love Vizzed and I'm grateful for all the amazing hard work that has been put into the various games and emulators!
