EDIT: a solution has been found, the alternate emulator (Mednafen) works for me. Thank you Crazy Li.

Hi guys,

It's been ages (and a laptop) ago since I've played some games on Vizzed. So today I revisited the website and installed the latest version of the RGR plugin.

Here's the problem I'm having:
When trying to change the Joypad configuration, entering a key to represent some button will shortly flash the key I entered, then it 'll disappear. If I want to change the configuration, I have to keep pressing the button and press "Ok" whilst doing that.
On top of that, I can't enter any arrow keys, and the "up" key is unassigned and can't be changed (not even in the way described above).

Obviously, that last part is the largest issue.

Tested this for GBA games.
I'm using Firefox. Tried using Explorer, but that gave the same result.

Is this a problem with the emulator? Is it something I can fix?

Thank you in advance!

I've heard a few complaints about control weirdness in the GBA emulator. You could try the alternate emulator (Mednafen) and see if that lets you set controls any better.

I can't personally replicate the error though. My controls set just fine. I could make up some sort of work-around if it's needed, but it'll be a little complicated to perform.

I don't know why it do that, because I am using Fire Fox and everything work very well for me. By the way, which system are you trying to play with the RGR plug-in? And for the GBA emulator, I don't know why it do that, again. But for the GBA games, to change the controls, you need to double click on the game screen, and then you will see a window, and click on a text that is at the left of the words Up, Down, Button A,ect.., and press a button on your keyboard. For example: If I choose Up, I will press on the Up Arrow on the keyboard. And for almost every system, you will need to double click on the game screen to change the controls of the emulator. But if you already tried that, then I think the problem is your keyboard or your computer that has a problem.

Sister T : Have you tried using Mednafen as I suggested? Open any GBA game and then click the "Play using Mednafen" link in the upper left-hand corner of the game window. This will switch emulators. Let me know if control config works there. Then we know if it's just the one emulator or not.

tRIUNE : I'm summoning you here because you know more about RGR issues than I do. I've seen this issue pop up in the staff inbox multiple times lately as well. Any idea why some users can't set controls properly in VBA? When I tried answer this problem before, they all said they uninstalled and reinstalled the latest plugin, restarted, and all of that stuff.

I have a backdoor solution to setting controls, but if this problem can be resolved normally, I'd rather have that be done.

Sister T : Well, if your keyboard has no problems, are you trying to use a PC controller? Or if not, try to uninstall the RGR plug-in, and then, install it again. If your problem is not fixed, then you can sent a P.M to tRIUNE, or a Staff member that help the RGR. They could help you to fix that problem.

Crazy Li :

Thank you. I didn't even realize the alternate emulator came with the download now (don't believe it did back when I used to check up on Vizzed once in a while). Anyway, Mednafen works like a charm for me .

Glad that worked. I'll close this since you found a solution. I would like to figure out the problem with the primary GBA emulator, so I've posed the question to another area to see if any staff member can figure it out.
