Maybe its just me but Vizzed needs more threads... So, I thought I would make one. If there is some other post like this one, please close this one.^^
Okay, So Hello Kitty. What are your thoughts on her? Is she just some cute Japanese drawing or something darker?? * If you dont know, you can read about it here.* http://anitasnotebook.com/2011/02/the-real-story-behind-hello-kitty.html If for some reason you can not open the link, here is what it is basically about: Some people believe that... " Hello Kitty was apparently started when a mother of a child dying of cancer made a pact with the Lord Of The Underworld ™. If The Devil spared her child’s life then in return she would start a toy company that payed homage to him. Makes sense right? I mean who wouldn’t look at Hello Kitty stuff and not think ‘homage to the Devil’? Another surprisingly depressing urban legend says that Hello Kitty was first drawn by a child of an abusive parent. According to this legend she drew the cat without a mouth because she wanted a character to confide in that couldn’t tell about the abuse and get her in trouble" So, I had never heard those stories in my life until last year when I was in 10th grade. I had even made a whole report about Hello Kitty in my freshman year and I found no information like that, until my friend told me the story. At first, I laughed about it. I thought it was a bit funny since I dont really believe in God or the Devil. Yet, she REALLY seemed to believe it. Then, we were all in my friend's birthday party. She had made goodie bags and in there were some Hello Kitty stickers. Since we were just sitting around waiting for more guest to arrived, I get bored easily, and so I got the stickers and I went up to everyone and put a sticker on their nose. One of my friends had no problem with it.... until she noticed it was a Hello Kitty sticker. She took it off and she subtly gave me the 'WTF' look and ripped the sticker. I dont really recall it well, but I think I shrugged it off and told her that it was just a sticker and it was not going to hurt her. Still, she refused to even touch the stickers!! :o Other time, I am Pagan, most people are ignorant and tend to think that I am Satanist...Which, I am not.... I was in class with another friend and she took out her notebook and on it was a Hello Kitty sticker and she quickly took it off and she gave it to me and she said "OMG!I can't believe it... I told her not to put it on there!! HERE!!... have the Devil." I don't believe Hello Kitty is a Satanist symbol... but it seems like a lot of people do..So, what are your opinions about it? (I always try to read my posts like 343265 times before posting, but If I made errors, please excuse my dyslexia.) :3 Okay, So Hello Kitty. What are your thoughts on her? I read that information and I can say that I'm thoroughly freaked out now. I want to delve deeper and discover the underlying meaning of Hello Kitty. I will never endorse or support the Kitty ever and I hope if I ever have a daughter she will shy away from this satanic offspring. This will make for a interesting topic at my next DnD get together. |

*takes a deep breath* Okay, so I finally got the time to look into what you posted, though it took me quite some time to get to it. I was intrigued when you made this thread, though my initial reaction was to say the claims were ludicrous. I mean, it smells of 'urban legend' from 50 miles away. LOL After researching for a few hours, I came to the conclusion that I'm right. I just did some research into the company, the products, the character history, the maker's background, the legends themselves, and.... well pretty much everything related to Hello Kitty. LOL Personally, I've always hated the doll. I just think it looks stupid.. there's no other reason I dislike Hello Kitty. It's not something I want to wear or carry or look at because I don't find it attractive. So don't think I'm defending her because of my own agenda. ^.^ From what I see and read, what you stated has as much basis in fact as Santa Claus does. My guess is that the urban legend came around after a murder was committed in which the murderer decapitated a young girl and then stuffed her head into a hello kitty doll. Of course, just because something wasn't created with satanic intentions/ influences doesn't mean it can't be lured into that category. I read a few pagan's views on the subject, and they tried to tie Hello Kitty into goddesses with a human body and a cat head.... make claims such as the fact that Hello Kitty's eventual spouse is actually not male and thus promoted lesbianism.... many silly things like that. Pretty much any of these can be debunked with a bit of research. I think people just like taking cute things and applying a contrast of 'evil' into their personality and habits. It's kind of the idea that opposites attract. We love juxtapositions, and what could be more 'innocent' than Hello Kitty? I read that there are .... *coughs*... many adult toys baring Hello Kitty, but so what? I'm sure you can find the same with just about ANY character/ object/ idea. People tend towards the flesh and love anything related to.... personal pleasure. As I said earlier though, it's quite possible that the brand and character now have a Satanic influence. I personally don't think it does, but it's possible. I do believe in demonic forces, and I do believe they can attach themselves to anything. Also, just so you know, Hello Kitty's lack of a mouth is for marketing appeal. Consumers in general fell in love with Hello Kitty simply because they could project any emotion onto her that they wished. If they wanted to view her as sad, happy, or mad.... the lack of the mouth made it easy to do so. It was one of Hello Kitty's biggest claim to fame. In conclusion: I don't like Hello Kitty, but I don't think it's a Satanic symbol, either. This comes from many hours of research and observances. Resuri : No, Hello Kitty was just made by some businessman who thought he'd make a lot of money off of it. People always tell stories that aren't true. Just because everyone's heard of "Bloody Mary" doesn't mean she'll show up in my bathroom- or anyone's, for that matter. |

It's just a money-making idea, and a damn good one at that. Hello Kitty has pervaded nooks and crannies throughout the world and whoever holds the rights to it is making some serious bank. Shoot, if I could have a nickle for every time I see Hello Kitty during the day, I would also be rich. |

Hello Kitty has been a huge marketing success for years. People of all ages buy up her crap like no tomorrow. You see the stuff almost everywhere. Hats off to the creator of such a simple character that so many have loved over the years. |

Yeah, I have to agree with the other posters-there's no way it's a demonic symbol or anything. It's just a stupid marketing ploy like Betty Boop or something. I find it creepy and gross, but a lot of people like it. The whole demonic thing is just one of those stupid internet stories that float around. |

Sorry but I would pass, I mean if Hello kitty is the devil then I'm Beelzebub or Baal. Its better just to ignore these things and just enjoy life. I wouldn't think nothing of it but someone's opinion if I were you. |
