Another great space ship shooter on the Turbografx 16. Blazing Lazers not only plays flawlessly, but it also looks better then most T16 games.

GAMEPLAY A-: This game is very hectic. The non stop action makes this game very fun. There's a lot of destruction you can unleash. Even the beginning of the 1st level is full of explosions. The pace of this game is pretty fast, so expect to be fast as well. The game might be fun but it does have a minor problem. Sometimes a lot of enemies and missiles appear on the screen at a time. What happens is not slow down, but the game gets to overwhelming and it makes the game frustrating.

GRAPHICS A+: You could easily mistake this game as a Genesis game. The sharp vibrant colors are impressive and there is absolutely no slowdown. The sprites are pretty detailed and still it seems like the Turbografx 16 has more "blast processing" then the Genesis. One thing I like is the bosses. They look so original and unique just like the whole game.

SOUND A:  The futuristic music sounds amazing, its upbeat and complex. There's also some voice samples in the game, but they are hard to understand.

ADDICTIVENESS A: You will definitely not want to get off this game. It's fast paced, fun, and great for high score contests. When I played I always wanted to know what happens next. So this game is pretty addicting like most space shooters.

DEPTH A: Don't be fooled by the game only having 9 levels. These levels are unique and very long. There are even multiple bosses in each level. There are a lot of weapons you can get during the game. Some like the lazer beam are powerful, some lock on to enemies, others protect you. The most interesting weapon is the multi fire. It's actually a little pod thats next to your ship. Firing as you fire.

DIFFICULTY MEDIUM HARD: The first few stages are very easy. Then after that the difficulty bumps up. It goes so high to the point were its extremely frustrating. In the later levels, you will feel like you are being forced back due to how many enemies are on screen at once.

OVERALL RATING A-
