I think a Vizzed newsletter would be something cool to add to the website. And the moderators and David can discuss what they want to add to the newsletter for each month. You can do so much with a newsletter. You can even give certain moderators their own column, to write whatever they want to. Just something to think about.

Anyone have any specific column's they'd like to share? Throw your ideas in here!

This actually sounds like it would be a lot of fun to do. I doubt that one could be released every month... but possibly every three months - in the off month between the TDV and VCS? The TDV and VCS could be covered in each issue, then. There can be columns on the new stuff added to Vizzed. There can also be columns on the stuff that is possibly upcoming. Of course, there doesn't necessarily always have to be that. 

And what about possibly allowing guest columns? They could be submitted to the mod box each time they were called for and whichever columns the mods chose would be featured in the Newsletter.

Of course, David could also just add another category of "mods" that had the specific job of taking care of the Newsletter...

We sort of already have one... In fact, David started it a while ago, as a way of letting inactive members know about new stuff to bring them back to the site. It's released like once a year I think. Maybe more.



I think what you are asking for is far too much. For one, David would need to actually send the emails out. For two, you need content. Most of the moderators are too busy to contribute to something like that, I think. Then add in that it takes time out of the job itself... and I don't think it's really all too feasible.

Plus, there isn't much to talk about that you can't see on the forum to begin with.

What Ktanaqui said, is basically what the newsletter is currently, an email that says when new stuff has come out. Upcoming stuff isn't really much to talk about, since most of it is on a need to know basis for a while. Once it's public knowledge, you will see it announced as an upcoming feature. So that's kind of unlikely too.

All in all, I just don't think what you are asking is possible given the resources granted to us, and it's probably nearly impossible without David's help.

I've discussed new categories of mods with David in the past, and currently, from my understanding there will be NO new ranks for a LONG time, if ever. And when a new mod category is made, it will be a sort of local who mods all the forums, as opposed to only 7 of them.

I don't want to be known as any kind of spammer on the site. Thanks for explaining that to me leggy. I will have to see if I'm signed up with the newsletter then.

Ktanaqui : Those are really good ideas. If I knew how to send out the emails, I would offer to do that but I guess it's hard because the staff members are so busy. Which is completely understandable. Maybe you and I can talk privately about making a newsletter for fun and send it to our Vizzed friends or something. Just something to do for me basically. It doesn't have to be about Vizzed, seeing as that belongs to David and I don't want to take any kind of content from the site. But maybe we can make a newsletter for other non-vizzed things. Just something to think about.
