Streets of Rage is one of the greatest Genesis games ever made. I did not say the best, but its one out my top 10. 

GAMEPLAY A-: I always liked the beat um up genre. Streets of Rage however takes that fun to a whole new level. With tight controls and its easiness to pick up and play. Smashing each bad guy is fun and there's a huge variety of them to kill. At the end of nearly each round (except round 7 and 8.) You get to fight a huge boss that has its own special ability. You can call in a police man to shoot a huge fire ball that surrounds the screen, to get some of the enemies off you. The one little problem that is common in many beat um ups, is the fact that the enemies sometimes hang on the edge of the screen were they are not only invisible to you but you also can't hurt them. In general though Streets of Rage has very fun and satisfying gameplay. 

GRAPHICS A+: This game has some of the best visuals you will ever see in a Genesis game. The sprite are detailed and fluidly animated. The lush scenery and backgrounds really set the city like atmosphere for this game. In addition to all that, there is no flicker, slowdown, or breakup in this game. Even Sonic games had a bit of slow down every now and then. Streets of Rage uses the Genesis'es graphical capabilities to the max while show casing it very fast processor. Or as said in the ads for the Genesis. "blast processing."

SOUND A: The Genesis had some pretty mediocre sound capabilities back in its day. Compared to systems like the SNES and the Neo Geo. Streets of Rage takes full use of it though. The techno music is just plain awesome. Its up beat and original, and it helps set the atmosphere of the game. The voice samples are a bit scratchy but like I said before. The Genesis had some very mediocre sound back then.

ADDICTIVENESS A-: This game is great for high score contests as well as just playing it through. I stayed on the game for a long time. I would not stop until I beat it. I guarantee that you will have a fun time with this game.

DEPTH B-: This game might not have a bunch of levels. It does however have a bunch of difficulty settings and 2 player mode. So the game might not be big, there's only 8 levels but there's a few things that compensate it.

DIFFICULTY MEDIUM: The difficulty progresses well and its very fair and balanced.

OVERALL RATING A:

Tips
1. break some of the scenery and you will find, health weapons and extra lives.
2. Every 50,000 points you get an extra life.

Streets of Rage is definitely one of the best Beat em up of the Genesis... I finished it with my sister, Things get really hard at the Final Level!

G@amehe@d: This is one of the Streets of Rage I haven't had the chance to play yet. I have the Ultimate Genesis Collection video game for my PSP so I think it only has Streets of Rage 2 and 3. But don't quote me on that. I really love games like this. I remember playing a lot of games with this style. The graphics are pretty good for the time it came out. I can play games like this for hours. I love the challenge you face whenever trying to fight any of the bosses. I look forward to playing this. You did an excellent job on your review. I hope you do more in the near future.

Nice review .. I think i'll try playing this later after i finish posting .. And I think you should post your score not A+ , A , A- , B + , B , B- ,  And C .. You should say your score like A+ ( 10 / 10 ) .. That will make your review more understandable .. But overall , your review is great !
