Today is my twin's wedding. For the most part, I had forgotten about it because I was so very busy. I can't believe my twin is getting married! Growing up, she always had to have her 'bubble', and she'd wallop anyone who got near it (usually that was me.) She always talked about how she never wanted a boyfriend, hated people, hated people being near her, and hated to be touched. We always expected it was all for show, and as soon as she moved out, we indeed were proven to be correct. She was all about the social scene and being the social butterfly. She started going clubbing, always having 'eye candy' men on her arms, and started dressing...erm... Well I can't say what she dressed like since this is a family friendly site. ANYWAYS, I didn't mean to get off topic. *takes a deep breath* Despite knowing she always put on a show for us when we were younger, I guess I can't get the picture of her not liking to be touched out of my head. She's had two or three ectopic pregnancies, so of course...Well you adults get the picture. Things are much more rampant than that. So as I was walking home from work today...it hit me hard again. She's getting married today, and I'm not there. She doesn't want me there. And she's thrilled none of her family are going so she can play the victim card. It hurts me SO bad..... Even though she claims to hate us so much, I can't help but wonder: Is there going to be a point in the day where she feels just....a DROP of true sorrow that we aren't there? Will there be one moment where she thinks, "Gee, I wish Mom was here." Will she be hurt? I think she has changed so much that the chances of that are unlikely, but I also think it's sad that no one wants to go, and that she doesn't want anyone there. I've always been a huge family person. The rest of my family may not be, but I always have. Is it hard for you to forgive people? I've always been ridiculously forgiving to a fault, and I've been chided by a few about it. I forgive everything, and I forgive so quickly. Sometimes it causes me grief, but I just don't see the point in holding onto anything. I can't believe my twin is getting married! For me it going to take a while to forgive someone, because I don't believe them until they prove that they are really sorry for what they have done. Also your sister is just plain rude in my opinion if she doesn't want you to be at her wedding. |

Singelli : For me it really depends on what the person did, and if they are a repeat "offender". If they change, after a trial period, and don't repeat that mistake, and I mean it has to be a really harsh or bad mistake, then I can forgive them. But I also always tell them that it's going to take time for my to trust them again. So it all depends on the person and the circumstances. |

I got an error after making my response to this and I lost everything I typed. :/ Let me see if I can remember...: Well, if Christ died on the cross so that He could forgive all sinners, how can I not attempt just a portion of that forgiveness? He is gracious enough to forgive me, you, and every other sinner that comes into a saving relationship with Him. I was just sitting here and I realized that my sister is now Mrs. [insert new last name here]. It's making me feel a little sad.... I kind of regret not going, but I didn't know what to do. I just hope that if she's holding it against us, she can forgive us at some point in her life. Oh When the children of God gather together and are on one accord, oh what a time oh what a time. The Lord will the mist when two of God's people come together in agreement. Singelli, you and I are in one accord. We are telling these people the same thing. We have extended the message of God and it is their choice to accept it. WOOT! My spirit is on fire this morning. Forgiveness. It is a honor to know that in all that we have done, in spite of this, God will still forgive us. The Bible says we will cast it away and never bring it up again. Oh what a Mighty God we serve. If you aren't praising the Lord, You are missing out. |

Singelli : Yes God does forgive us, no seven times but seventy-seven times. (Matthew 18:22) It is hard for us mere humans to forgive others and sometimes even ourselves. But following the example the Bible sets for us can make our lives a lot easier. Even if the other person doesn't forgive you, you will know that you at least tried to make amends. That's what I do. I'll try to mend whatever it is that has come between our relationship, and if they don't want to take the time to listen to my sincerity and they don't want to forgive you in return, they will have to live with the consequences.
It's really a personal decision if you want to try to mend matters. So don't beat yourself up if you don't try to do so, because it's really up to every individual and there are times I get so much fear in me about whether or not they're even talk to me that I take some time to really ponder on the matter and I'll even go to the Bible for answers. A really good scripture to read, sorry I'm not trying to make this thread about religion, I just want to help you find some scriptures to read that will help you decide on what you want to do. So another good scripture is (Nehemiah 8:17). This is a really good example of how our grand Creator handles situations. "He is a God of acts of forgiveness, gracious and merciful, slow to anger and abundant in loving-kindness." Another thing you can try is using the fruitage's of the spirit. (Galatians 5:22) "The fruitage of the spirit is love, joy, peace, long-suffering, kindness, goodness, faith, mildness and self-control." And remember, we're all imperfect humans. He never expects more from us than what we can do. And He never gives us more than we can handle. Try praying to Him about it. I definitely know by experience that prayer does work. I hope I helped you some. I really wish you the best and I hope things work out for you. If you ever need to talk just let me know and I would happy to give you a listening ear. mr.pace : SunflowerGaming : Thank you both for your kind and supportive words. Mr. pace, I always try to find some reason to praise God. I wouldn't be able to make it through my day, if I could not sing to God at least once. I know that all that come against me, He can turn to good. He is my hedge of protection, my sheltering arms, and my faithful shield. Amen. I have tried mending things with my sister. In fact, I tried for four or five years. I tried to the point of lending her thousands of dollars which she never paid me back for, giving her a place to live, allowing her to bring practically a whole zoo in my apartment to comfort her, and trying to be her friend. I ALWAYS turned the other cheek. I always told her I loved her. It's a long, long story. I'll only post if it you two want to read it. My parents say that I was too forgiving and kind, but I don't think there is such a thing as being too forgiving or kind. SunflowerGaming : Thank you both for your kind and supportive words.
