I received Christ into my life roughly 9 years ago, and before that I used to listen to punk rock, recently I started to listen some old bands on the internet I used to listen to in attempt to get rid of some stress I have with living with my roommate.

The music brought back memories and took the stress away, but I know the whole reason I stopped listening to that was because of the lyrics - so I did a google search for Christian punk and got this:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Christian_punk_bands

I know of a few Christian metal bands that I like, but I don't think I've heard any of the groups in that list.

Has anyone listened to any of the groups there and can recommend them or not? I'll be checking those out on this list whenever I have time.

tRIUNE : The styles on that list range from punk to soft rock, I mean I wouldn't classify U2 as punk by any standards of the word. I could recommend some bands off of the list but it would help to know what kind of punk music you like.

Five Iron Frenzy - If you like Ska music.
MxPx - If you like 90's/early 2000's style of pop punk.

Probably my favourite band on that list is Craig's Brother. They kind of remind me of NOFX.

smotpoker86 : Yeah I wouldn't take wikipedia's content as fact a lot of the time - basically I saw "Christian Punk" and I wanted to check it out; still haven't. By punk rock I mean just that - not U2 or soft rock, etc. Bands I used to listen to include Black Flag, The Misfits, Rancid, Dead Kennedys, etc. (the list will go on) point is I stopped listening to them because of their lyrics not being in line with my new Christian lifestyle, but I still like punk rock "music".

You listened to the good punk music xD

The bands that I have heard on that list don't particularly sing about god or have christian related lyrics. Some of them are just labeled as christian because the members them self claim to be christian or sign to a label like nail-and-tooth. My opinion is you should listen to whatever band sounds good despite whether or not they have christian oriented lyrics. Unless they are singing about something immoral or about sinning I can't see it as being to big of a problem. To each his own I suppose.

In high school I was pretty active in a non-denominational christian youth group. We went to tons of christian-punk concerts. I can only remember a few band names: Five Iron Frenzy. Ok I can only remember one. There was also ska, metal, all genres. During the concerts we would all be out on the floor moshing and acting crazy, then the lead singer would do an alter call afterwards lol.

My religious beliefs have since changed, alot, as I've delved into Jewish Kabbalah these past few years. But thats way more info than I can post (or was asked for).

tRIUNE : I do apologize for the late reply, but as far as punk goes, Hawk Nelson, Stellar Kart, And FM static are good Christian punk groups. I believe Relient k is as well, but I don't know much by them.

Nice to see more Christian punk and metal fans.

Eirinn : Relient K is a Christian band, but like lots of the ones on this list, they aren't 100% Christian. Not all of their work is Christian, but I think the majority is. I can't believe how many bands on this list I know! I listen to lots of them. Audio Adrenalin is one that I listen to sometimes (and they are getting back together) Switchfoot is one of my favorites, David Crowder Band is good, but I think they just broke up, and a few more. FM Static, Eleventyseven, Hawk Nelson, and Sactus Real. Some of them are full time Christian bands, but some are more like how I described Relient K.

patar4097 : So Audio Adrenaline really is getting back together? Sweet. I had heard something about it on the radio, but I wasn't sure if I heard right.

Eirinn : Yeah, but the lead singer is going to be different. The guy from DC talk is going to be the lead singer now. I think his name is Kevin Max or something along those lines.

yeah, I know that, just like I knew about Skillet being Christian Rock thanks to my sisters... couldn't Skillet be considered both Christian Rock and Christian Punk... they have different styles.... prime example is "Lucy" and "Monster".

You know, I've honestly never thought of that. I suppose they do have somewhat of a punk sound in some songs, though they are a bit darker (the sound of their music I mean) than the average punk group or song. I have even heard them referred to as punk, which in my opinion is way off target. They have some harder songs, but not metal. Although I must adit I have not heard most of their songs, mostly just what I hear on the radio. However they do sing my favorite: Those Nights.
