My personal spiel about Ms. Pac-Man:

Ms. Pac-Man is a game that I played on my Sega as a young child. I played it with my mother rather frequently. It was probably the only game that I could get my mother to play at all. (She was big against video games because of my father.) It was a game that I loved then, and still love to this day - several years later.

Difficulty: 5 (Average)

Not too difficult, not too easy. This was a game that simply took practice. As a 12 year old, I played it enough to beat it. At 18, after I haven't played it for six years? It's nearly impossible for me to even make it halfway through, because I am out of practice with it. Ms. Pac-Man is definitely a game that demands patience and time.

Depth: 10 (Excellent)

Pac-Man and Ms. Pac-Man are both fairly simple. However, Ms. Pac-Man holds many different settings and functions that allow you to extend your game and change it up quite a bit. With the various difficulty settings (Easy, Normal, Hard, and Crazy), Maze Options (Arcade, Small, Big, and Strange), as well as the Pac Booster and Player options, this game boasts many ways to play.

Story: 5 (Average)

Ms. Pac-Man does not have an extensive story. It's cute, it's short. It's to-the-point... and the story has very little to actually do with the game itself, honestly. The story is there just for the change in acts... which is rendered completely useless if you are playing Strange mode.

Addictiveness: 10 (Amazingly Addictive!)

Most every body who plays Ms. Pac-Man becomes addicted to the game; it's just that much of an addictive game. At 12, I played it every chance that I go to at the Laundry Mat down the road. At 16, I owned it and wore out the Cartridge on a Sega Genesis. At 18, I have it on my PC in ROM form and play it like crazy.

Sound: 10 (Extremely Clear)

For a ROM based on such an old game? The sound is extremely clear. It gets annoying after awhile from the sheer repetitiveness but hey, it's not like it is 64 Bit Full-Blown, Ozzy Osbourne written and sung music.

Graphics: 10 (Awesome)

Again: ROM ripped from insanely old game. Considering the age and the glitches in some of the other ROMs? This one is absolutely amazing, as far as Graphics go. Besides, it's an arcade game. I don't expect Spore graphics to rip and shred at my computer's graphics card anyhow. Not in a Ms. Pac-Man game.

Overall: 8

Great graphics, clear sound, extremely addictive, decent story (although fairly useless in my eyes), tons to do, and easy to learn without being too easy to master. This is a game that I would suggest to anybody interested in puzzles or fast-paced game play and anybody who needed something to entertain him/her that is not a game that requires endless amounts of attention. As a last note, Ms. Pac-Man has a ton of replay value.

This game was fun to play, I personally liked the "Big" maps, The pity was that there was only 20 levels, But the game was still lots of fun to play, I have only beaten the game once with pac booster on.  Very hard, But very addictive!

Great job on the review, It is accurate and well written. Keep it up!

Ms.PacMan is a fun game to play for me. It is just as addicting as PacMan. The only problem I have with the game is the ghost. They always corner me somehow. Great review on a very fun game.

A great review. I always had fun in this game even though I sucked horribly at it. My dad would always verse me and I would lose all the time. This was one of the games my mom loved.

Thank you! It is extremely addictive.. I suppose that, because of all the modes I have never noticed the limited twenty-levels issues. Are you talking about Classic, Big, Small, Strange..?

Mobouis1 :
That's the way the game is designed. I had a discussion awhile back regarding the mechanics of Ms. Pac-Man and Pac-Man both. Want to know more? Might help you play better.

cnw64 :

I used to suck at it. Then my mom told me to not depend on the "attack" dots so much. Saved my life... many times. We played together all the time... nobody else is my family would play though, which sucked. (Same issue with Monopoly too.)

Ktanaqui : Maybe the twenty level limit only existed for the 'strange' settings. I also remember that the fruits gave up to 10,000 points. The glove gave 5,000, the milk carton gave 3,000, and the plant gave 10,000. After level twenty Mrs. Pacman says good bye. And you have to start over, But I loved to do multi-player for that game, with Pacman and Mrs. Pacman teaming up they could never lose!

I'll say it again, Good review. (:

I like the Pac-Man series, including the Ms. Pac-Man arcade. (Hence my username) I own the Sega Genesis version of this game, and its a nice time killer, its also nice if you have a buddy to play with you. Its all around pretty fun.

Good review.

I've played the Genesis/Megadrive version a few times, and it's a good game I must say.

A pretty fun game to play... Keep the good work!

Excellent review.  While both Pac-Mans are good, Ms. Pacman has a certain level of experience that really just wows you.  It is a game that will forever live in history.

Are you referring to the fact that the layout resets after a certain point?
Oh, and I am not sure whether to thank you or the TDV for people actually posting in this now... even though it is the worst review that I've ever done on a game.

pacman1755 :

I love the Sega Genesis Ms. Pac-Man. It's one of the games that I was looking to get my hands on forever after my mom got rid of all of our systems except our PS2 and Wii. I nearly cried when I saw Vizzed had it. (XD)
It really is an epic time-killer; my mother and I would play together all the time. For like... hours at a time. So it was great for bonding time too.

Eddy88 :

Thank you, although I personally think that I could have done much better with this. I might make a new one later. Ms. Pac-Man is a lot of fun to play, and personally, for me? A must-have in my collection.

mr.pace :

Thank you.
The amusing thing is is that the mechanics are actually very simple; it's a matter of having three "phases" that are timed. Literally.

Phase 1 ~ Wander
The ghosts are programmed to "pick" a certain "tile" and make it their priority to get to that tile. This causes them to ignore Pac-Man & Ms. Pac-Man completely.

Phase 2 ~ Attack
Each ghost is programmed in a certain manner. In the same method of choosing "tiles" as in Phase 1, each ghost chooses tiles according to the Pac-Man & Ms. Pac-Man's position. These choices are ever changing, because the character is eternally moving.

Blinky's tile will always be Pac-Man's/Ms. Pac-Man's current tile. This keeps Blinky constantly chasing you.
Pinky's tile will always be four ahead of you, giving Pinky the ability to "trap" you.
And I forget Inky's and Sue's - I'll make an entire walkthrough regarding this later, if I get around to it.

Phase 3 ~ Run
This phase occurs only when the attack dots have been eaten. The ghosts default back to "Wander," in that they choose the same tile they had in Wander phase but they also try to stay away from you.

So yeah... some nifty little facts.
