Be wary of where you save. You don't want to be confused about the story. Also, grind, grind, grind, which applies to any game with EXP. Make sure that all characters are equally levelled.

1)Magic.
Aside from the main 4 Elemental attack magic and the 2 main healing and revive spells?
There is no need to have more than one of each spell.

2) Items
Similar thing for weapons and armour.
Try to always have at least one of each purchasable item.
Sell all of the extra gear till the end.
Then snag the best stuff and sell everything else.

3)Experience Points.
In between each town.... try to level up your party by 3 to 5 levels before moving onto the next mission.

4) Party time.
Try to keep the first set of characters at all times to blaze through quickly.

5) !!Special Spoiler Alert!!
If you do want a guide and don't want to spoil the story? Wait a couple of months before purchassing. Brows through them and see if they just cover the max experience. Leave out cool story and just touch on all the things you may want to do in the first level. Or Flat out cover everything and have it wisely divided like have a different section for side quests. A different section on Item aquisition. And so fourth and so fourth.
You want the best experience so don't ruin it for yourself.

Another trick is to take notes a week in advance and stay away from the game for a week and only check the notes. (Play on week-ends only style.)
If you have photographic memory? This will never work.
The idea here is to forget what the guide says and get the full enjoyment.

Good Luck To All.
Peace.

.................
Oh Final Fantasy 5 only???
Have fun.
The job classes are so much fun.
You cant go wrong with the job classes that work best for your tastes.
I favour One strict Fighter based character.
One Extreme magic user.
The other Two to be as mutable as possible. (Test Subjects for the New Jobs.)
Be ready for a long haul though. this game can go on for months if you can not find a style that is effective.

Good Luck Again.

Here are some good tips to remember

1) Try to learn the Blue Magic spell called Level 5 Death, inside the
Spoiler:
Library of the Ancients
. This spell will come in quite handy for training. There's a monster later on that gives huge amounts of Gil and ABP (4-8 ABP per battle!) and is affected by this spell. It's located in the basement of
Spoiler:
Castle Bal

2) Make sure to learn the song Requiem inside
Spoiler:
Quelb
. There are monsters inside the
Spoiler:
Great Sea Trench
that are called Unknown and are immensely weak to this song. This provides tons of EXP, ABP and Gil.

3) Try to master Ninja, Monk and Thief with the people you wish to become your strongest melee fighters. This is because mastering Monk gives your Freelancer the maximum bonus to Stamina and Strength, which is absolutely a must for a fighter, and mastering Thief gives maximum Agility boost. The Ninja is because mastering allows you access to
Spoiler:
Dual-Wield
. That ability is pretty self explanatory.

4) Don't be afraid to toss around
Spoiler:
Zeninage
, which is a Samurai skill. If you have large amounts of excess Gil its a great non-elemental attack that can do thousands of damage easily.

5) Always make sure more than 1 person has White Mage abilities. Having only 1 healer is asking for problems, especially later on against harder bosses and battles. Also under this tip falls the same for Summons. Having multiple people able to cast
Spoiler:
Carbuncle and Bahamut
is always helpful.

6) Try to keep a large stock of Hi-Potions. Yes White Magic is nice and all, but you might want to conserve your MP for battles when inside dungeons without a save point nearby.

7) Pay attention to people's stats, to make them better suited to certain classes. Yes, anyone can learn any class, but obviously Lenna, who has a much higher Magic stat then lets say, Galuf, should get the Spellcaster jobs.

8) Training may seem tedious but the extra abilities you can get are well worth it, alongside the general HP and MP increase when you level up.

If anyone has anymore questions feel free to ask, I've played through this game so many times I've lost track
