All over the internet people tell of an apocalypse on the 21st of December. Is this true? will there really be a 2012 doomsday? I hope not

Doubt it, just another day being hyped up like Y2K. Something is going to happen but the world coming to a end is highly unlikely. The only reason I think something is going to happen on that day is because of all the attention "doomsday" is getting. Somebody will do something stupid and people will end up getting killed. For me it will be just another day in history and when the 22nd hits I'll just sit back and enjoy my life while it does last.

Here is part of just one of many articles that can be found on the internet regarding the 'newly discovered' information. Honestly, I think it was discovered a long time ago, but they kept it from people just to increase the hype and get them interested in 2012 propaganda to turn a quick buck. Now that it's getting close, they've changed their tune:

Reuters reports the new findings are based on an ancient "scribe,"

who appears to have annotated the scary apocalyptic Mayan calendar cited by

doomsday fetishists:

The researchers who helped uncover and decipher the wall's

inscriptions said the Maya calendar foresaw a vast progression of time, with the

December 2012 date the beginning of a new calendar cycle called a

baktun.

So, you see, December 2012 isn't supposed to be the

apocalypse—it's literally the opposite of the apocalypse. The beginning of an

entirely new calendar cycle. The good news is that the human race just bought

itself some time! In fact, plenty of time. If anything, jungle etching experts

say, we've got too much time:

"They were looking at the way these cycles were turning," said

William Saturno of Boston University, an author of an article on the find in the

journal Science. "The Maya calendar is going to keep going and keep going for

billions, trillions, octillions of years into the future, a huge number that we

can't even wrap our heads around."

I highly doubt the world will end on 12/21/12 mainly because it's just a saying that people spread all over the world.

The whole 2012 thing is just a few people misunderstanding a detail and the idea spread like wildfire. The Mayan calendar (the physical calendar) stopped on 2012. Now some people thought that because they stopped physically writing out the calendar, they were predicting the end of the world. But what they didn't think about is the fact that the Mayans were killed off. They can't really continue writing out their calendar after they are dead, so of course it has an end. Besides, even if they were predicting a doomsday, I wouldn't worry about it. They apparently couldn't even predict their own demise would come from foreigners, so why think they could predict the world's?

Its all a lie

The world was also supposed to end on my birthday last year, the 21st of May. And we all see how that turned out.

People just hear something some suspicious person says and wig out about it just to have something to talk about. I'd say it wouldn't matter even if it did end, that's a problem for December 21st. Just do whatever you do until then.

Also note: It won't end.

Honestly, it doesn't matter if the world ends on 12/21/12, or tomorrow for that matter. This world must come to an end sooner or later. But I highly doubt the "end" is going to be in our lifetime...contrary to religious beliefs.
