Yes, Earthbound is a very deep game. It has many secrets and hidden features to discover, while being a fun and challenging game altogether. (Some have played it a lot, and some claim it to be not such a challenging game at all. It can be in some cases, but it certainly is difficult for a first play-through.) I don't believe I've even experienced most of what's in this game. It truly is a gem and a work of art, and is very stable too. It's very rare to encounter glitches by just playing through, but it does indeed have quite a few, and it makes this game double as interesting as it already is!

I am quite a fan of Earthbound, although I should be playing it more often.

Oh, and if you didn't know, Earthbound is actually an English Adaptation of the Mother series, made in and sold in Japan. Earthbound is Mother 2, made for the North America and Europe regions.

I know you guys are going to freak out, but no, I have never played Earthbound before in my whole life. I might try it sometime because people have been saying that it's a good game.
