I live in Kentucky, and gnats thrive in this state. Well my fiance and I live with our friend. To put it bluntly, our friend is a slob. He never cleans up after himself and never does the very few chores I ask him to do. He leaves his dirty clothes on the floor, makes food and leaves the dirty dishes lying around, and by the time I get to cleaning up his messes, there are gnats everywhere. I know the easiest solution would be to make him clean, but I've tried that. He won't listen. I'd kick him out, but we can't pay the rent without him.

So the question I want to ask is, does anyone know a way to keep gnats out of the house? I've hung fly tape in the bathroom, mine and my fiance's bedroom, and in the kitchen, but that only kills the gnats once they're already inside. I need a way to keep them out. Anyone know a way?

One thing I hate about spring and Summer, BUGS! They really disgust me, especially gnats. What I would do is I would get a Bug zapper and turn it on for half of the night. Or, I would hang some traps outside the door so they can fly right into them.

Well here are some tips I found and find useful. First of all keep your house tidy and sanitized (obviously).

Store your food properly. Don’t leave your produce exposed on a table. Put fruits and veggies in the fridge where gnats can’t get to them. Not only will you avoid gnats, but in many cases your produce will last longer.

If you have potted plants then make sure you don't over water them. That will attract gnats in your doorstep.

Catching the gnats is actually unique. Gnats are attracted to vinegar more than anything so what you do i fill a container or two with vinegar with the area of gnats and then en seal the gnats in to catch them. This actually worked quite well for me.

Hope I helped
