Something is still bothering me, and it's the topic of changing who I am.  I need to change and it's for myself and those around me. I annoy some people.  I don't mean to yet I just do.  Whether in real life or in the chatroom, some people just get irritated by my stupidity.  Part of it is my mental state of being. I happen to be a touch mentally disabled. As a friend lightly put it, I am twenty-five going on fifteen. So this is my final shot at change. I want it more than anything in the world. I want to be more mature and I'm willing to work for it. Next time you catch me being a rube in chat, call me out on it. Once in a while is ok, but all the time is unacceptable. It gets old. That's all I got for you guys.

I believe everyone is equipped with the ability to adapt to their situation and or surroundings.

People are able to change.  I'm proof enough of that.  For years, I had done virtually nothing outside of playing games and working a seasonal job each year for a maximum of a thousand hours and minimum wage.  While I did like the job, I seemed to never have a chance at a full time position.  Anyways, one day someone I love hit a milestone, and it sent a shock wave through me.  I had been doing nothing, and worse, I was content with it.  Now I'm working a full-time job elsewhere, I've gotten rid of everything I don't need, I've dropped all of my vices (I still game, but not to the point of hours on end when I have something else to do), and I'm stronger in my faith than I have been in a long time.

You can change, it simply takes a realization that you NEED to change, which it appears you have.  It's also a good thing that you're asking for help instead of trying to take it all on by yourself.  Some things you just can't do alone.

Well, I've given some thought to it, and I think TJ's right.  Who cares  if I am a goofy slightly immature guy with more issues than Sports Illustrated has made? Who I am is who I am. Of course, I believe that a person can change. I personally used to be introverted and shy a few years ago (around the time where I joined this place ). I am not sure whether it was by my own will, but I know I tried and now I am a lot more extroverted and outgoing.

So yeah, I think that if you have the dedication and will keep on going, yes. If you falter though, even for a little, you will have a relapse (at least that what can happen to me).

I think people can change. It usually takes some sort of really extreme event to happen in their life to be able to do so though.

I think the main problem is deep down people don't want to change. They may say they do, but they think it's just easier and more comfortable to stay the same. Everyone is resistant to change. The level of resistance might be higher or lower for certain people, but everyone has it.

Everybody can change their manners, it's just a metter of time and patience, I was like you, I annoyed everybody and I ended entering the status of Forever Alone, I was noticing I had no friend to go for example to a shopping or something, I had to learn to change my manner in a bad way, but if you want to change, you should pay attention to what you're going to say or send to someone, reflect about what you're going to talk with the other, so you don't say something senseless or you offend the other, I do like this: When I have the chance of saying something about the subject, I say it, specially if it's funny.
Think a bit about this, maybe this can help you.
