I don't smoke, nor do I ever plan to. I don't really like the smell of smoke at all, it's associated in my head with unpleasant things, and my aunt died last year from lung cancer due to smoking.

Smoking cigerattes is one of the worst things ever. I stopped smoking when I turned 18 after a while it just became pointless it doesnt do anything too you after a while except for make you feel disgusting and you dont realize how much they stink until after you quit.

I do not smoke. Although my mom smokes. She smokes pretty frequently, in fact. I think she said that she started smoking when she was just twelve. Evidentally, one of her sisters talked her into it. All of my brothers have tried smoking at some point in their lives. My younger brother still smokes. Really, he is chain smoker. Smoking was just a replacement for another unhealthy habit of his. He now retains both of the habits which I mentioned. I do not know if my sisters have ever tries smoking. I would assume that they have not, as it is, they have asthma which was said to have been cause by the fact that my mother smoked while she was pregnant with them. She smoked during all her pregnancies. I think that I am the only one of her children who was not significantly affected by her smoking. I recently heard of a connection between second-hand smoke and hearing promlems. I have never smoked. Originally it was because of the things which I was taught in school. Some time later I discovered that I hate the smell of the smoke. Although, I find it a bit ironic since I love the smell of would smoke. Most of, if not all, the people on my mom's side of the family either smoke, drink, or both. My dad's mom was quite the smoker. I lived with her about a year and I was surrounded by smoke. I eventually got my own house and escaped all of that smoke. Now when I try go in my grandmother's house I cannot even breath. So to sum it all up, I am a non-smoker for life.

actuallllyyyy.... it does help you feel less stressed, even though the consequences are horrible. Smokers usually have a fixation of chewing things, having something in their mouth, because they never passed Stage 2 in their development as an infant or toddler. Generally, people who bite their fingernails, chew on pen caps, have the need to constantly chew gum, etc etc, are more likely to develop a smoking habit later in life.

The ingredients in cigarettes include certain toxins that create the feeling of stress, by making the body feel that it "needs" the toxin it becomes frustrated and restless, those two psychological states cause irritation and stress is caused by high levels of irritation, the reason a smoker feels "less stressed" is because he is consuming the toxins that the body has become addicted to, thus the frustration and restlessness caused by the withdrawal from the toxin drops and thus drops the level of irritation and lastly stress.

Of course people have, do and always will feel stress, but there are no properties in cigarettes that take stress based on other things than the withdrawal from certain toxins, so after you smoke a cigarette you will feel close to exactly the same level of stress you´d feel at that point in your life if you had never smoked in your life.

What you say about people who chew things may be correct, but only if the person is ignorant of the side effects of smoking, smoking will only replace the need to nibble or chew things by the same amount something else like candy or a rusty crowbar would do.

Wow good post.

So even a cigarette that is mostly tobacco wouldn't contain relaxants?

Not quite, there are a lot of different ways to consume tobacco but in the end it´s just very much like your average cigarette, the first times consuming tobacco should just either feel uncomfortable or weird, and consuming after becoming addicted should be pleasing since you feel relieved from the withdrawal.

And if I remember right someone wrote that his or her brother/sister got asthma from smoking, that is possibly correct since smoking tobacco products can cause 'Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease' that causes the airways become narrowed and that leads to a limitation of the flow of air to and from the lungs causing a shortness of breath and that is in contrast to asthma since with COPD the limitation of airflow is poorly reversible and usually gets progressively worse over time.

But I´m no doctor, just know what I have learned in places like school and I must have been dosing off in biology when it came to the part about the side effects of smoking tobacco since I don´t remember if anything was said about asthma, only COPD.

I am terribly anxious about premature wrinkles, bloodshot/baggy eyes, yellow teeth, bad skin, etc. I would never smoke anything simply for cosmetic reasons. I'd rather do something constructive to relieve stress, such as paint, which I am very fond of...

Smoking is an unattractive habit to me. I could probably only date someone who smoked cigarettes if they made a commitment to quit, otherwise it would really start to get to me. It's just really yucky and unhealthy. I'd be worried about secondhand smoke as well. They still might be great people, but smoking is a terrible habit, and I feel sorry for people who can't/won't quit.

Nope, never now, never never. All of my old friends are doing it, but it's bad for you! These people are smoking rolled up death. Most people say " Oh God, that's just a myth", but my cousin (a close one) Has lung cancer, and she didn't smoke for 5 years, but now it's spread in the spine, the brain, and the hip.

A lot of my old friends smoked (and note I say OLD friends) but I never will. The only time I pick up cigarettes is when I'm cleaning up after people and I throw em away.

Yes. I've smoked since I was about 15 years old. Sometimes I go full days without smoking though... Then sometimes I smoke too much, like a pack a day. I could quit if I wanted to but I really don't. I like to smoke because it relaxes me.

I bite my nails on a regular basis, but all I have ever tried was pot, ONCE. Gos, that s*** was nasty. I didn't get high and it burned the hell out of the back of my throat. I really see a problem with people starting smoking now that there have been numerous studies done proving it is bad for you. Even the cigarette companies say it is bad for you! How stupid do you have to be to smoke??? Chewing tobacco causes gum, mouth, and throat cancer.
And Annette, are you saying you huff paint to relieve stress?

I have been smoking since I was thirteen. I am working on quitting now. It is just so expensive. Plus I am tired of coughing up crap in the morning. After I coughed up blood a couple times I figured it wasn't worth getting killed over either. I would never recommend anyone to start smoking just because of how its bad it is for you.

One thing I am seriously getting tired of is anti smoking laws. Socialism I tell ya...

No. Sorry, I'm a goody goody, a minor, and my parents would kill me. Plus, where I live, all of the cigarettes are required by law to put pictures of throats, lungs, and fingers of people who smoke on each carton, so whenever I see a cigarette I also see a mental image of a swollen and tar covered mouth. Sorry if I offend any smokers out there, but I absolutely detest smoking, especially the smell. I do understand how the Nicotine makes you feel better and it soothes you, but doesn't it taste and smell awful?

~sakura~ :
Cigarettes taste pretty good to a smoker and the smell is delightful when it is being burned. It does stink when I smell my clothes the next day if I was smoking indoors. It is all a mental thing. Many people hate the smell of it because of the negative ideas attached to it. Those ideas, although mostly true have been built up and exaggerated, then forced into the media everywhere. Just like you said, your government has sabotaged the cigarette companies with negative advertising on every pack.

Vizzed.com is very expensive to keep alive! The Ads pay for the servers.

Vizzed has 3 TB worth of games and 1 TB worth of music.  This site is free to use but the ads barely pay for the monthly server fees.  If too many more people use ad block, the site cannot survive.

We prioritize the community over the site profits.  This is why we avoid using annoying (but high paying) ads like most other sites which include popups, obnoxious sounds and animations, malware, and other forms of intrusiveness.  We'll do our part to never resort to these types of ads, please do your part by helping support this site by adding Vizzed.com to your ad blocking whitelist.
