Super Mario 64, Nintendo had a great triumph. The game is the most fun, cool, and awesome game for the Nintendo 64. It is the definition of super. So Princess peach invites Mario to the castle for a cake, but a surprise awaits him. The whole game is in the castle. You must go into different paintings throughout the castle, collecting power stars to gain power from the castle. The worlds themselves are very detailed and the names of them are catchy and at some times funny. The graphics are good. Sometimes the 2d fences and stuff are outdated but that will not get in the way of game-play AT ALL. The music is so good, each world has its own theme (except for a few worlds.) The themes are so catchy and you'll end up whistling them all day. The story is good and never gets old. Don't get me started about depth. There is just so much game to go through and it will take about a week or so to even get 85 stars! Bottom line, Super Mario 64 is the best game ever made. A 10 out of 10 my words exactly!

It is always nice to see a newbie review that not only meets the word count minimum for reviews, but actually has more to say that "this game is great" "this game sucks" "I love/hate this game" for a change. Honestly, when I see a thread for a newbie review, I am prepared to say why it isn't a review and why it is being moved to a new thread. Good job.

This really was a terrific way to launch the N64 console. This is one of those instances where the first release for a console ended up being one of the best games the console ever made. So many Mario games after this one follow the same format (collecting multiple stars in each level), but this one just beats those ones hands down.

I agree, Mario 64 was very good for the time period that it was released in. All these 3D graphics and the deep worlds they were set in really paved the way for future games. It was so much fun trying to get all 120 stars. x3 The music is also amazing, and always gets stuck in my head. =P
