I'm not the best when it comes to making new friends. Lately over the years, more of my friends move to different companies leaving a new obstacle in my life - Friends. I'm not exactly the most social person in the world to everybody, and I often am a bit shy towards those I do not know. It bothers me now more than ever because of the isolation in what not. Even though I'm not ACTUALLY isolated, it kind of feels that way at times in group assignments and things and it happens more and more often and I fear it'll only get worse as the years go on.

Any ideas?

Hmmm, I've had the same problem a little over a month ago. What you gotta is you gotta force yourself to talk to others. Don't get into convos about personal things but if people are talking about general things or things you like, then attempt to join it. It doesn't always work quickly because people will be used to you being quiet but if you keep trying, people will start getting used to you. Hope i helped ^.^

Yea, I really agree with what Diana said, sometimes you just gotta force yourself to talk to new people.
That's how I made friends in different grades last year when I moved up to high school.

Once you know you can talk to people, even if you have to force yourself to do it, it will get easier to talk to people.

Diana4281 : I guess your right. I never had this much difficulty in the past because I had more confidence. However my voice changed over the summer and my quietness has led me to having difficulties making friends and even more with maintaining some friendships as people change.

Yeah, I used to have the same problem as well. It's just hard kind of forcing yourself to make friends because you're always afraid of what they'll think and you might be bothering them or something, right?

But you just have to know that they're probably just as willing as you are to make friends with you as you are looking for friends. And if they reject you, then they're probably not worth being friends with anyways. You just have to keep trying until you find people with similar interests, and then you just starting talking to each other more and you're suddenly friends!

It's tough, and I struggle with it a bit too, but you just have to be on the lookout for people like that.
