I've noticed that a lot of people lately have been asking for a "hard" set of rules to follow in the chat. They aren't written down anywhere (just implied) but it's hard for me to automatically mute/kick people because I don't know if they know what they're doing or not. So, this list of rules should be good enough to explain the chat so people can't say they haven't seen these yet.

tl;dr- Read these to not get punished.

FYI: Mute = A twenty minute timeout in the chat when you cannot send any messages, but you can still see everyone talk.

Kick = A twenty-four hour timeout from the chat. You are ejected from the chat and cannot get back in until one day after the kick. Once a kick is made, it cannot be ended prematurely.

Ban = Only globals and above can enact a ban. You are ejected from the chat and can never enter it, unless a global decides to remove it. Used only in the most severe of circumstances.

Colors in chat represent your rank.

Purple - Owner (Davideo7 only)

Red - Admins (Global Moderators)

Bold Green - Mods (Local Moderators)

Indigo - Elites, Mods-In-Training

Orange - Site Staff

Blue - Trusted

------------------------------------------------------------------

1. Respect everyone in the chat.

This rule is probably the most important out of all of them. Nothing makes you look more like an idiot and a jerk than insulting other members in the chat, especially in front of everyone else. Depending on the severity, there will be no warnings about this: just instant mute, kick, and possibly ban.

2. Do not spam.

Spamming can range anywhere from typing "adkfasdf" over and over again to posting the same link multiple times in a row. The System should automatically take care of this issue, but the mods are allowed to take action if they feel like you are spamming. Excessive use of memes is not cool and will not be tolerated. If you say arrow to the knee jokes over and over, you can expect a mute.

3. Keep the chat PG. (The Mature Chat is rated PG-16)

The site is family friendly, which means that the chat is too. The chat should be kept so that a 12-year-old and their parents can be in the chat and not feel uncomfortable at all. This rules needs to and will be enforced much more strongly. The Mature Chat will be more lenient, but there are still rules that need to be enforced. No porn, for example. See the full list here: https://www.vizzed.com/boards/thread.php?id=35290

4. The chat is allowed only for ages 13 and over.

Though we try to keep the chat rooms as safe as possible, it sometimes isn't possible to control everything that people say in these rooms. It is also true that some younger kids don't know how to control themselves in the chat. Thus, a Vizzed user must be at least 13 years old in order to use the chatroom, no exceptions.
 (Not applicable. ~play4fun)

5. Don't embed Youtube videos into General Chat.

Don't do it in any chat besides the Youtube room, actually. If you want to share a video, post the link to it and people that want to see it will click on it. Also, don't post your link over and over again.

6. Don't RP in General Chat.

Role playing goes in the role playing room. PM people that you want to join you. But don't PM those that don't want the invitation, and don't force people to come with you.

7. Don't post in all caps.

It's just annoying and looks completely spammy. Posting in all caps will count as an offense. TaLkInG lIkE ThIs counts as spam, too.

8. Use appropriate fonts.

No symbols, upside down letters, tiny cursive writing, bright colors, clear text, or anything else that could make your text hard to read/obnoxious. A mod (and probably other users) will ask you to change it back, and not doing so will result in a mute.

9. Talk and links about Pokefarm/GPX Plus is not allowed.

It's been overused and has resulted in a lot of "CLICK ME CLICK ME" spam. It's one of the few specific things that we don't allow in chat.

10. Mods and above get the last judgement.

Now obviously, these rules won't cover every instance. In every other case, mods will have the last say on what goes on in the chat. If you really feel like a mod is not doing their job right, PM a global with the date and time of the incident, and they'll look into it.

11. Do NOT ask for mod powers.

It's been an issue that some people simply ask for mod powers, and they are gifted with open arms. That's not the case. Ever. Don't ask.

Addendum - I've heard several people complain about the rules being unfair and blah blah blah. In ALL cases, rule 10 should be paid very close attention to. They are mods for a reason. Any reports of abuse should be sent to The Global Moderators. They will get back to you as soon as possible.

Also, see here for additional ways to help yourself in the chat: https://www.vizzed.com/boards/thread.php?id=34371

tj4bigred : Many thanks for letting me use some ideas from the thread above. :3

All looks good. =) I'm gonna close and sticky this, but just tell me if you want it back open. If you have any more questions regarding expectations in chat, you can PM a me or another chat monitor.

And yes, these are the exact things Mods are looking out for. You can be muted or kicked for breaking these.

Just going to chime in saying that as a global I agree with the above rules.

There are a few minor technicalites... if something you want to know is not covered above you should talk to me or another moderator.

rioario :

That's where you are wrong. David actually gave us mods the go ahead on it. It's an official rule, and is totally legal.

You should be thankful you can still be immature.

Ack, this thread is supposed to be closed.

You know what, forget that. I'll leave it open so people can ask questions about the rules or whatever.

I have a question concerning what is appropriate language in the chat. I am not asking for them to be listed here, but what words ought to be censored for the sake of younger members --despite the fact that it's them who seem to be the most foul-mouthed? Also, I can't help but be annoyed that anyone goes to use profanity and avoid the chat filter by making an incomplete word or swaps out one letter for something else --I will admit that I myself did this once.

Wow at least a kick from chat isn't a day anymore...I find it hard to believe that the mods will break the rules first....

Oh and about the fonts, does that mean we can't use bold fonts also?

Seeing Dragoon's post, I believe I should take a go at explaining further, going over each rule with further explanations. Are ya ready?

1) Respect everyone in chat:
Way to start the fun so early . This is probably the one rule I see almost never followed, which is funny, since it's the most important. There's never a time in chat where somebody isn't being disrespected. No matter who it is, no matter how many people join in, there's always somebody there who is going to hate you and make you feel as unwelcomed as possible. Not only is this a horrible thing for the offender, but for the offendee too, being they most of the times end up fighting back and getting in trouble, while the offender does not.

2) Do not spam:
Turtle turtle.

3) Keep the Chat PG.(The Mature Chat is rated PG-16):
That's the funny thing, because half the time you're in chat, you'll find SOMEBODY that defies this rule a huge amount. Chat basically cycles though an unbreakable chain. It'll have one or two good chat times, and then others it ends up being either drugs, violence, fighting, or sex. There are rare chances when the cycle is broken on some days, but that's, like said, really rare, and goes back to that cycle the next day.

4) The chat is allowed only for ages 13 and over:
This one is probably the top followed rule, and the only that's pushed to be followed. I could go into explaining, but I'll try that later if anyone is truly interested (Even though it should be obvious).

5) Don't embed Youtube videos into General Chat:
This as well is one of the most followed rules. Basically insta-kick if you're common in chat, or long mute if you're new.

6) Don't RP in General Chat:
Lulz, I'll just not go over this one.

7) Don't post in all caps:
Eh, I'd say this isn't much of a problem really.

8) Use appropriate fonts:
Same as 7.

9) Talk and links about Pokefarm/GPX Plus is not allowed: This as well is generally overused even now. Not to a point where it used to be, but still around a ton still.

10) Mods and above get the last judgement:
Ending with a bang it looks like... Well, lets get started. Now, I can say without a doubt that mods often abuse this rule. When? When breaking rule 1, "Respect everyone in chat". Yes, this whole post wasn't ONLY about the general public, I was focusing more among the mods! Surprised? Shouldn't be, being I said his is further explaining what Drag said. Now, they usually use this rule only when they're offending somebody else and don't have the guts to apologize or anything when the person they're offending fights back. Are either side justified? Nope, offender was offending and offendy fights back (Unless they don't, in which they are justified), but who is worse here? The mod using this rule to escape having to apologize and to escape hearing the fact they did wrong. If you pick a fight, and you shouldn't have, you get the consequences that come with it. Don't skate away with a petty move like that, because while you ARE a mod, you ARE NOT invincible.

Now, while I am sure a ton of you will be fighting against this post saying how untrue it is, I can guarantee that some of you are those who were in fact actually offended and abused by mods with these rules being broken in the process by them.

And for the Mods that are going to fight against this, why not let the public take a stroll through the logs provided to us? Yes, I'm sure most of you will be thinking they are definitely for mods only, but then why would you oh so conveniently place them in the open for all users to access? > Options, > Open Chat History, > See Public Logs. Easy as that. Just takes going into the room where it happened and doing that. Plus, they're easy to navigate once you learn how. Just hit the page button to the farthest left of the navigation (Or whichever is farthest from home) and you go back a page in history! Should I take a guess at how many of you mods had trouble, and still have trouble figuring this out? I bet if I use a large percentage I'll be right.

Hopefully most of you mods who do break these rules constantly will revert back to being awesome after reading this, and those who are currently awesome STAY awesome. For those who revolt more? We regular members, whether we are Elites, trusteds, even Newbies know how to take situations into our own hands and know who to report to, and we won't hesitate to do so.

I hate having to be 13!!! I, WANT, TO BE, 13!!! Ever since the 13+ age rule took effect, I hated Vizzed Chat all together, no rooms in chat that I can enter had people everytime I entered, I would have to invite people to the kids room.

MegaRevolution1 :

Yeah, I'll be honest, most of these rules aren't followed most of the time. But whenever we mute or kick someone for legitimately not following the rules, everyone gets all butthurt and like "omg why were they kicked they didn't do anything" yadda yadda.

I partially blame the "goofing off" the other mods do, as well as how lax I've been with the rules. Plus, there are many many shades of grey when it comes to these rules. But yes, I would like to see them be more enforced in the future as well. It really is up to the mods to keep the chat a likeable place, not one where bullies rule over everyone.

KG :

Please revise these rules once you have time. Some things are a tad out of date, and being you are the chat manager you should fix broken rules.

Ergh, I wish there was no 13+ rule. I mean, it's a good rule, but it means I can't chat. Nobody would chat in the kids room, and I don't want to wait another year to chat. :l
The rules are good. Nobody really listens to them.
My brother saw Bigfatcat using caps every post a while ago. He even has a screen shot.
