Do not talk. Really I am serious. If you see an upperclassmen respect them. All the problems come out of respect; respect the older people and others in command.

Other than that you will be fine!

Vizzed Ghostblood : Ohh in my school there is no one that stands up for you except yourself. So if you will not do it no one will. I hope that it all works out for you?

Try not to build up a bad reputation your first year, do as your told, and respect the teachers, etc.

It also doesn't hurt to try and make friends with the upperclassmen either. It was fairly simple for me, I don't know how easy it will be for you.

Are you in any kind of extracurricular activities such as band, or football, or something like that?

From my 4 years of experience, the whole upperclassmen chain of command is more of a television thing than real life. If you are in a sport, club, or a team of any sort, you will make friends with people of all classes. Sure, they tend to crack some freshman jokes, but not to take offense. But in a lot of schools, the whole respect the seniors or you get pounded or bullied is an exaggeration. It is very cliquey though. That is where the bullying comes from. Just be yourself. Though, the respect thing is true. But that should hold true towards everyone. Not just upperclassmen, but you already knew that.

My high school was pretty normal, actually. =| I got along with most of the upperclassman because I assume that they'd either gotten more mature, or they didn't want to get in trouble for picking on the freshman. The cliche of the seniors picking on the underclassmen never happened in my high school, that I know of - at least not to me. And during my senior year, I never really talked to any of the freshman. =|

But yeah, just stay calm. High school isn't as scary as TV makes it out to be. Some schools - like mine - can have their little cliques, but it's nothing to really worry about. I was with my group of friends a majority of the time, which makes everything better, haha.

Good luck! [=

Freshman year is not as scary as you'd think it is.

Trust me. I went through that hell twice. I moved in the middle of my freshman year and had to TRANSFER =| It was like going through it a whole second time.

It's not that hard though. Just do what you want and don't piss off anyone =)

Eh, I'm a junior this year, in terms of age, and trust me when I tell you this...
High school is not like what everyone on TV makes it to be. Sure, at first, you'll probably be lost in the school, depending how large it is, but over the years, you'll know the school like your back of the palm. Also, just try your best in school.
Respect the upperclassmen or not. Actually, if anything, the 9th graders (sophomores) are so similar to you, they're practically not a 'upperclassmen' to freshmen.
Also, keep a eye out for any bullying activity, that will tell you if the high school you're entering has bullies or not. Mine had none, thankfully.

One more thing. Avoid the "druggie" group at all costs. Some high school has them, and they skip class to smoke / do drugs, and they're generally the worst bunch in school, if there aren't a gang, of course. Also, once you start to know your school, ask around your friends if they know if the high school has one or two gangs, because there can always be a gang war even in high school. This happened to my high school, and I don't know about your high school, so just be aware about it.

Also, try to get the best locker.

I had no problem freshman year . But I was also boxing, lifting, and street fighting for money. Anyone who had a clue what I did didn't care to pick on me. Except for the couple bigger fighters that pummeled the heck out of me, but hey I had it coming.

Eh, all I say is try not to make enemies, the last thing you'll need is upper classmen angry at you, a good locker will be nice too. Try to keep some of our advice in touch, and see where it leads you.

yeah, my only advice would be to keep your head down. Your first year there you don't really need to attract undue attention to yourself.

And really, after the first month or 2 you settle into it and it become comfortable.

geeogree : Alright. I hope I will have good time at High School, since many said that high school is better than middle school.
