I did a big ol' review of a game called Starfox for the Atari (it has no relation to the Starfox of Nintendo today).

It's a great shooter game and really addicting if you give it a try.

Well, if I recall, there is a game I found to be interesting, but it could be boring after a while. It's called Miniature Golf, and it's a decent game for the Atari. If you're not a sports fan, I'd probably suggest Tron: Deadly Discs! If you've seen Tron, you should know what the game is all about just by reading the title, heh.

"Adventure" is my favorite Atari 2600 game. sure there's nothing much to look at (you're character is a single pixel)
But Adventure is actually a great game. (especially for Atari standards) it had a huge impact on all of gaming including the first easter egg ever put in a video game!

"AStar SP" is also a really great game, it can be hard trying to figure out the puzzles.

"River Raid" and "Pitfall" still hold up today as being gems of the Atari 2600.

There are also a good ports of "Missile Command"  "Centipede"
