Some people don't notice this game. It's like no-one knows this game, as if it doesn't exist. I find this as quite a shock, as I thought Lemmings was one of the finer puzzle games that had an element of action in it as well. Well, after this, I hope that more people will appropriate the fun, puzzle, and the lovable annoyance that is lemmings. And before you ask, these aren't the furry little lemmings that we know, but in fact creatures that look like short humans with green hair. Why? Maybe they like eating peas and their hair colour changed accordingly.  Lets have a look.

So you basically need to help these lemmings to get to the exit. For what reason I don't know. They get dropped in there by some trap door, and they need to get get, probably for freedom. And what do you know, they can't do anything my themselves, but you can guide them. There are obstacles in the way of these lemmings, but you can't clear them, you need to tell the lemmings what to do. There are a number of commands you can tell the lemmings what to do, such as: lay some bricks to create stairs, or block a path so they can't jump off a cliff, digging through stuff, and my favorite (and most peoples I'm sure), self-destruction. You guessed it, they blow themselves up. Helpful to get rid of the blockers when the threat has passed. You get a certain number of these commands, so use them wisely. If all else fails, use the nuke and start again. The nuke, if you haven't had guessed yet, bombs all the lemmings, and you lose. Always fun to see them go that way....

There are 100 levels, 25 from each level of difficulty: Fun, tricky, taxing and Mayhem. The fun levels are for you getting to grips with the controls and what this game has to offer, such as cliffs and spinning blades. The tricky levels are fun in the sense that they are more challenging, and this is where the game really begins. A few of them were the same as the levels before, but the levels have fewer of those commands, so you can't use the previous way before. How clever. One level in tricky really got me stumped. I really didn't know what to do. The answer was on the tip of my tongue, but every time I did something, I would have all those lemmings dead. I got it in the end, and gave me great satisfaction to have solved it. Some have a clear solution, and some have an awkward one to complete, requiring a somewhat over complex way of placing the stairs and making some lemmings die to get here and their. That might just be me, but that's the beauty of this game. For the most part, there is no right answer, just a way of clearing the level. Like they say, there's more than one way to skin a cat.....or lemming for that matter. It's a problem solving game, and is a puzzle for that reason.

The music is classic. It goes well with the game. I like the sounds the lemmings make when they reach the end of the level. Always a nice sound. Some traps in the games are hidden, so you have to find a different way to get round. This game has little to say about it, but it has more to offer than you think. I would, overall, give this game a 8.8/10 The beauty of finding a way to solve the level, but it not being the intended way of solving it, makes you feel smart knowing you found a way of saving those lemmings. They appropriate it. This game offers a challenge for those who like to solve problems and save lemmings, even if they don't look like them....
