I need to know where to go after the 6th gym.  It seems that I may need surf but cant seem to acquire it. I've been running around in circles for hours the past 2 days, I've gotten the rainbow pass/ticket but cant use it anywhere. What do I do next? Please help.

I used a ghost Pokémon, I think they have to know hypnosis. Put it at the front of your party, go to celadon city,the Pokémon fan club, then just press "a" on the hypno.
