This is one of 10 reviews I'm doing for Davideo7's Microsoft Point contest in order to win 1600/1400 Microsoft points.
This is the link to the thread.
Once upon a time, I had 80 Microsoft points left after a large spending spree on XBLA/Zune, and I had almost nothing to spend it on, so I went to the indie section, seeing if there was anything cheap enough, and to my surprise, there were many many good selections of games to choose from.
I saw that the second most purchased indie game was "1 MA3D 4 GAEM W1TH Z0MB135 1N 1T!", I downloaded the trial to see if it was serious, and it was. I thought it would be very awful considering it was named so poorly and it had costed me virtually a dollar. So, I tried it out, and it was surprisingly really good.
Playing the game
The game is an aerial view of what's happening in the field, the game's graphics are kinda 32-Bit, but it's cheap, and made by 1 or 2 people, so that's kinda expected. It's very detailed though, with everything looking nicely polished and well done.
You move with the left analog stick, and shoot and aim with the right analog stick, hence the term "twin stick shooter". Easy enough for somebody like me to comprehend.
Now, the best part about this game is, probably the only reason this game was made, for a song to go in the background. The song is just awesome, and it got stuck in my head for the first week of playing the game. The song is about him making a game with zombies in it, just as the game is, and the zombie/other creatures attack quite in sync with the song, and they appear in sync with the song, very accurately, no lag between the song and the game.
There is a sort of variation between enemies. There are zombies, they're just zombies, there are big zombies, which take more than one shot to kill, which is easy, because you shoot like 5 shots a second with the normal gun, and there are exploding zombies, if you kill them too closely, they'll blow up at you and kill you. Zombies are not the only enemies though, there are blobs of green goo that turn into more blobs of goo when you shoot it, there's a emoticon anger face centipede that can only be killed by shooting it's head, there's a disease that looks like gas, hence named "the disease", when you kill it, it dies, like a zombie, there are anger emoticon faces the just jump around, and finally, there are annoying little shards of diamonds that are all over the place and you can't tell where they are. Don't worry, these all come when the tone of the song changes to fit the creature.
There's also a nice variety of weapons, like the gun, the rapid fire gun, the star gun (I like this one the most), which shoots stars, highly effective, the rocket launcher, which shoots exploding bullets that take a while to shoot, I wouldn't advise using that one, and there's the lasers, which shoots a laser straight, and kills anything in the way.
That's basically all there is on the game, it's addictive, multiplayer, fun, and catchy.
I'd recommend it for those who want to spend the rest of their Microsoft points, or just anybody who wants to have a fun and musical shooter that's easy to get a hold of, and has many enemies.
