Super Metroid is the 3rd Metroid game and the 1st on SNES. It starts with a great spoken intro and ends with a great scene.
Story:
Samus brings the little Metroid to the Ceres-Laboratory but then Ridley attacks the laboratory and kidnapps the little Metroid. Samus gets an emergency signal and is going to the planet Zebes to avoid the clonning of the Metroids.
Gameplay:
Super Metroid is an action-adventure that means you're walking through a big area, shoot down enemies and collect things. You're playing Samus Aran and walk around a planet.
The area is big but because of the map you always know where you are. You walk through the areas and always find new things because every new item (posted screenshots) opens another door for you. You shoot down enemies with the different beams you get and jump higher and run faster with the items you get.
Graphic/Areas:
Like mentioned their are different areas you're walking around in. Each area or each different complex of the world has it's own features you have to overcome. They don't seem to be very creative but when you're playing a while you recognize how complex they are and how much they have to offer. The graphic is very good and probably one of the best on SNES. The graphic and the areas together result in a unique, one of a kind atmosphere you don't find in any other game.
Sound:
The areas and the graphic don't create this great atmosphere alone, the sound puts a big part to it. The sound is fantastic. Here you don't have any funny or happy jingles. Here you have dark and threatening tunes matching to the dark locations.
Features:
In Super Metroid you have a lot of stuff to collect. There are energy tanks, reserve tanks, missiles, bombs, super bombs and much more. And you have the different items, of course. As you are getting further you get a lot of items and you need these items to finish the adventure. You get different suites, beams, morphing ball extras and other stuff. Besides these items you can find extentions for your ammunition. These extentions are helpful and necessarly for the adventure and the boss fights.
And as mentioned you have got a map you can always take a look on.
Difficulty:
Super Metroid has a great difficulty. It's not to easy and not to difficult. Some areas are easy to master, some are not. Some boss fights are easy and some are not. It's a great balance.
Conclusion:
Super Metroid is an absolut classic! It's a great action-adventure with a good gameplay, a one of a kind atmosphere, a big world to discover, many things to collect, a perfect difficulty, a good story and a great sound. Super Metroid is a game that is very unique and even for me, who hasn't played the game at the time it was released (I was one year old, I couldn't play it) it is a great game and a timeless classic. I have played many games of today, but these games, like Super Metroid, are the reason for many games of today and I also call Super Metroid even 17 years after its release, one of my favourite games ever!
