I love hunters, but chargers are really the best, but you can't just spawn as those, at least in L4D 1 u can't. The game will have a way of picking someone to spawn as one later in the match, then u really gotta try to pwn some ppl!

The Charger not only slams you continuously but he can also ram you into a lake or ocean for a one hit kill.

I prefer chargers since they have pretty decent speed and the melee damage is pretty good..plus you can really do damage to survivors charging them from certain heights even killing them altogether...my favorite place to be a charger is in the swamp level near the lake because thats where i charge surviviors into the water for instant kills

While the Spitter can be extremely devastating to a team if the infected has excellent co-ordination, I am actually going to vote for Boomer.


One good puke/boom at the wrong moment for the survivors can literally eliminate a team that's doing awesome to rendering them crippled and limping, or even worse; some dead or all completely dead. Especially when a Tank is on the loose. If one survivor gets boomed during a Tank moment, you may live, but two or more, and you are simply toast. There is no way for you to kite a tank properly when you are being surrounded by the horde.



Boomers offer endless opportunities for the infected team to really bring out the damage; and when your team does that, YOU bring out the damage as the horde moves in to do assist damage as they are rendered helpless. Together with this combo, you can kill a completely healthy survivor in merely seconds. Even if you DON'T do damage with a huge vomit, you make the survivors waste precious ammo. This is good because they either have to switch to a weapon they don't prefer, or you may force them to lose upgrades like laser sights. If they don't, they struggle with the lack of fire power and will be forced to use pistols/melee weapons only for a while.


Thirdly, in a moment of peril, survivors will panic badly. I can't count how many times when I done a 4 man vomit, two survivors will whip out their Pipebombs at the same time. Or even better, when a survivor will throw a molotov at their feet, usually burning themselves and their teamates nearby; often times leading to incaptiation due to friendly fire. This works insanely well in Death Charge locations like No Mercy rooftop. EVERYONE will ALWAYS try to get out of the death location spots when blinded and will try to sit in a corner. Then you move the spitter in, and they burn to death while being cornered by zombies and they can't get out. Even better you have a charger waiting for them to step out trying to escape the spit; this combo works quite a lot of the time and I've gotten many death charges, or hundreds of spitter/boomer damage to full team incaps,


Fourthly, yes, a fourthly, even if all THIS doesn't go as plan, no matter WHAT the situation, you buy your team some time. Survivors can not just simply rush through a boomer made horde very easily. They must protect their teamates that are targeted, meaning during this time of combat, your dead teamates are getting more precious seconds to spawn, and more time to set up to leash out a more devastating attack. It's the same reason you may prematurely spit as the Spitter and block the survivor's path; to give your team a few more precious seconds to spawn.


Fifthly: Rocket booms. 'Nuff said.


The only disadvantage with Boomers is that they are very obnoxiously loud compared to any other infected. They die very easily even with a single shot from the walls. More importantly though, they cannot incap and pin a survivors; rather, they make it ridiculously easy for other infected to incap survivors. This is what kills even a healthy team. If everyone gets boomed, and 3 out of 4 get pinned and rendered helpless, one single man has to fight the entire horde off himself in time to save his teamates. It very rarely happens unless you got a molotov or a Pipebomb, or perhaps a special weapon. Even with all of that, a lot of damage will be dealt for sure.

I really like the spitter, being up above on a ledge and hitting everyone as they walk under or hitting them when there pinned, so satisfying. Oh oh! Oh or hitting them RIGHT when the elevator opens!

I dunno why. I just find their animation the coolest, and it's always hilarious to stalk prey as a huge thing that explodes like that.

Plus, he's called Boomer. Win.

What happened to the Tank ? Unless you meant playable special infested.

Every  special infested working together = win , get a boomer and splitter  together and finish them off with smokers and hunters .

I think the Hunter is the most useful even though I think it is pretty fun to play as a Smoker.

I am definitely a smoker guy. At least on Left 4 Dead one. I haven't had a chance to play multiplayer on Left 4 Dead 2 because I was sold a cracked disk that I didn't notice until I got it buffed to work out the freezing problem I was having Anyway, on Left 4 Dead one, Smokers rule for me because they are great for separating the team during hoards or boomer attacks. Also, I love finding those instant death pulls. It is just always so satisfying. Boomers are a second for me. I tend to not like getting the Hunter as much. I'm much better at sneaking and hit n' run tactics than aggressive attack.
