I used to be told that this was only for Short sighted people but now I hear different, why is this? does the procedure work with all eye conditions now?

Have you had it done? in which country and by whom?

My friend went to Thailand to get it done, I would have been terrified to do this, apparently it was very cheap, the surgeon was a pro and now he no longer wears glasses, result!

would you recommend it for minor eye problems too?

It is gaining popularity. Here in Canada it used to cost around $3,000 but now it is a fraction of the cost, something along the lines of $1,200.

To be a candidate you MUST have had no changes in your prescription for at least three years. As you may imagine it is a very delicate and complicated procedure, if you got it done then your prescription changed again that would really suck (to say the least).

I would consider getting it done if I was a candidate and I had the money to burn. While I do enjoy my glasses, ultimately I think they are a fashion downfall; I can't get new frames without it costing hundreds of dollars to fill them with prescription lenses, and it makes my eyes smaller in appearance.

If I got it done I would very likely still wear glasses and sunglasses (with plain or frames of course, no prescription) just for the aesthetics. But... The frames would only be $30-50 and I could have a much larger collection. Haha. Also, swimming would be more enjoyable.

Plus, I don't really like the idea of being helpless without a piece of plastic sticking around, if I lost my glasses I would be in trouble. Similarily contacts do not work for me.

The first site I found didn't give prices but assume they are within in the range of the next one- its done by the kinda famous since I hear them advertising his practice on the radio: ScottHyver Visioncare, they do offer "Spread Your Payments Over 24 Months, Interest-Free!" The next site's info: Bay Area Average LASIK Surgery cost (per eye)* Custom Wavefront LASIK - $2250-$2900
Conventional LASIK - $1720-$2450

I would probably do it if I could afford it because my eyes are pretty bad (nearsighted). It's not a high priority for me tho. I've never had any problems with my contacts and I've been using them for 15 years. (different ones of course because my eyes steadily get worse over time)

My step-sister had really bad eyes her whole life and she had laser surgery like 6 years ago when she was 13 or 14 I guess... It apparently improved her popularity and she became a word I can't use here. Nah, just kidding... mostly... But yea, It worked for her just fine. I remember when it happened my step-dad had to carry her in the house and up the stairs to her room and she couldn't open her eyes for a day or two and had to use some kind of eyedrops until her eyes healed from the surgery.

I wouldn't be afraid of it and even if something did go wrong and I went blind, couldn't I sue then?? I could live without sight. I would just listen to and make music the rest of my life.
