I recently bought a slim PS2, ceramic white new, because our "phat" model is broken down, and I want to have a PS2 console to be able to play PS2 games still. It came with the Network Configuration CD, and I did manage to play some Ratchet and Clank Deadlocked, as well as some SOCOM Combined Assault. However, let me note that I did put StarWars Battlefront2 into our old 60G PS3 model which was PS2 backwards compatible and played a few matches.

I have played SOCOM and Splinter Cell (Pandora Tomorrow I think). The SOCOM game was alright, worked fine and was addicting. When I played Splinter Cell, there was NO ONE on. It was really strange that the servers were still up and everything, but absolutely no one was playing online.

I only played 2 games online for the PS2, Resident Evil Outbreak File 2 and Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence. Sadly, both games are now offline which makes me sad. (especially MGS3)
