Today I was on my computer, trying to change the theme. Then when I restarted my computer and Windows 7 "freaks out"! It gave me some error of a certain login.ui file was missing. I couldn't do any thing about it. I had no back up disc, or anything.
Luckily I had a version of Linux sitting around. So hear I am posting on my new 'non windows computer'. Ugh, this sucks, all I have left is some windows xp cd that doesn't even work right, so now I can't play any of my games. It's robably because the computer was built for, and came with Windows 7 pre-installed. If you know anything about how to install windows xp on a windows 7 based computer, pleas let me know!

You should ask around in the Computer/Technology forum for help on your computer, if you haven't already. There's lots of tech geeks in there, they should be able to help.

I don't what to do to help you out, but I will say that you can not installed a previous version of Windows onto a newer version. You'd have to wipe the entire OS from the hard drive.

Your xp cd should install just like Linux did. I don't know why it would pop up in the windows install and say you have a virus. Doesn't matter how screwed up your boot/log was you should be able to format it.

You can get a recovery DVD from the manufacturer. It's going to cost you, but that's the price you pay for not making one yourself unfortunately. Also this is your best bet as it would be a bit silly to go back to XP.

If you want to in the meantime you need to enter bios and make sure your boot includes the your cd drive before your hdd. It should come up saying hit a key to boot with this cd... or something to that effect. It'll install windows xp. You'll lose all of your data though as XP doesn't allow you to make a partition if you haven't already.
